Monday Morning Leadership | Servant Leadership

Hey guys. Welcome to my Monday Morning Leadership, I am starting a new series of blogs focused on leadership excellence this post is from a slightly different perspective as I will beusing “Servant Leadership Roadmap” by Cara Bramlett

So it's my hope that you are committed to your development and understanding skills to become the most effective leader possible She notes: "If you're a leader striving to drive leadership excellence, brush up on competencies and refresh your skills This is the perfect place" I think Leadership begins with having the right skills on board and tools in your mental toolbox to guide you to success You'll discover your personal leadership style, personal listening style and a way to develop your current team into a high-performance group of individuals.

The foundation in her book is through servant leadership, We lead individuals through emotional connections, trust, and inspiration So you might ask, "Val, why the constant focus on leadership and servant leadership?" Well, my answer is this: Because I truly believe and subscribe to the maxim by John Maxwell that "everything rises or falls on leadership" Leadership is crucial to grow a successful, thriving business or organization And again to quote Maxwell: "A leader who produces other leaders multiplies their influence." To put it another way you're either a multiplier or a diminisher Leader by this definition need to be multipliers.

Servant leadership is best represented by the paradoxes of being a servant leader in a poem by Brewer as cited in Hansel's Holy Sweat:

Strong enough to be weak
Successful enough to fail
Busy enough to make time
Wise enough to say "I don't know"
Serious enough to laugh
Rich enough to be poor
Right enough to say "I'm wrong"
Compassionate enough to discipline
Mature enough to be childlike
Important enough to be last
Planned enough to be spontaneous
Controlled enough to be flexible
Free enough to endure captivity
Knowledgeable enough to ask questions
Loving enough to be angry
Great enough to be anonymous
Responsible enough to play
Assured enough to be rejected
Victorious enough to lose
Industrious enough to relax
Leading enough to serve

The journey will not be easy however it's filled with many rewards So I'm excited about this journey We'll get started but that's our introduction for today

Thanks for joining me, Catch me next week with a new episode on leadership excellence.

Cheers
