I did a couple kits...and they were horrid. Or maybe that's just how kit beer tastes, I don't know. I think the problem was that mine had no grain; it was all canned/liquid LME.
I immediately made the jump to all-grain after that. I like to have control over my beer. :)
yeah, I think I did like 2 kits maybe, and then made the transition to all-grain. It was indeed just some canned concentrated malt, and all you had to do was add some water and yeast and let it ferment.
Not very satisfying really. This all-grain kit ended up being a good beer, but, with trying to sound arrogant, my first own recipe I brewed after that already blew it out of the water and so did everything else I brewed.
