RE: Need a Job?
What appealed to me was the guy taking his freedom in his own hands and making this tech available to joe everyman.
I expect some enforcement action to occur at some point.
Should make a great train wreck.
It will be a test case of the ex post facto and bill of attainder provisions of the CONstitution.
If not, well, nature will have some more flourescent frogs and refrigerators.
Maybe some folks will emit light from the bacteria in their mouths.
Just out of curiosity, how do you expect people who understand how to do bioengineering can be regulated? Short of surveillance cameras in every room of every house, banning 3D printing, and basically burning biology books, I don't see how it can be done. The tools for sale on the-odin.com are specialty tools that make the tasks easier, but they're not necessary to make genetic changes to the genomes of living things.
Soon enough folks will just be able to print those specialty tools anyway. How will this enforcement be undertaken?
I didn't/don't expect efficient enforcement, just a train wreck.
It is very difficult to take freedom, much easier to trick people into surrendering it.
My initial reaction to this data was to suppress it, but then i remembered, freedom beats slavery, hands down, so no telling what can come from extending this data to others.
If i was in Vegas, I'd show up to their party.
I didn't expect the enemedia to smear Assange with poop stories, but I wasn't aware of the degree of their desperation either. Any attempts to prevent individual people from bioengineering will fail, will harm those who may try to suppress the technology for their commercial interests, and create more interest in bioengineering. We have recently seen (in recent decades) how the attempt to suppress information sharing (music and video) has created a new paradigm in content.
I expect TPTB have learned that lesson.
I wouldn't count on it.
They don't like change.
They may not like it, but they do like their money, and will adapt as necessary to maximize the digits in their accounts. The only change they like is spare, or what they can extract from our wallets. That will not prevent the status quo from evolving as decentralization proceeds to impact every industry, and increase the retention of wealth by civilians by decreasing the parasitism they are able to effect.
They will hold off that spectre of economic equality as long as they can, and that will limit their ability to combat decentralization because physics decrees that more advanced tech is decentralized, and trying to suppress it will but shrink their wealth more quickly rather than prevent their eventual disempowerment.
I flag trash. You are trash.
Wealth is about to be measured in more than dollars and crap, imo.
