Thanks for the interesting post. There are truly some odd creatures out there. Your post brought back some memories of old...
I remember seeing plates of these deep sea fishes in the Museum when I was a kid, and then being afraid to go in the water in Florida...the smallperson imagination turning them into huge sea monsters, quite sure there were schools of them swimming about, just waiting for a kid like me to wander too far out. Thus disappearing forever into those sharp teeth and gaping mouths. I don't suppose I knew what a millimeter was back then, and thus never realized that they were only 3-5 inches long, and probably weighed in at 3 oz. Little do these things matter in the mind of a small child splashing about. My parents probably thought I was goofy..."I'm not going in there..."
