✅ Meta pilot crypto payments through its Novi wallet on WhatsApp.
🔹 The Meta Platform, formerly known as Facebook, and their efforts in the digital asset space may have been entangled in controversy from the outset, but that hasn't stopped efforts to explore ways for users to use the Novi cryptocurrency wallet.
🔹 WhatsApp as the Messenger app of social media giant Facebook, has launched a pilot crypto payments program in the US with the help of Novi. The move comes a week after top executive David Marcus announced he would be leaving Novi at the end of the year.
🔹 According to an update from Stephane Kasriel, head of Novi, only a limited number of users in the country will be allowed to send money via WhatsApp and stablecoin USDP Pax. The test program will be powered by Meta Platform's Novi wallet which launched in beta in October of this year, which is more than two years after the initial announcement.
✔️ CONCLUSION:
🔹Meta's crypto strategy has changed since the company first announced its plans in 2019. The original plan was to develop a cryptocurrency called Libra. But the team behind the ambitious digital asset rollout, had to cut its plans dramatically, amid growing regulatory threats. Along the way, it lost a lot of early backers, such as Visa and Mastercard.
🔹 Later, Libra was renamed Diem. Calibra wallet becomes Novi. Despite the setbacks, Meta began testing digital wallets in Guatemala and the United States by allowing Pax Dollar transfers two months ago.
👉 Despite constant pressure, Meta still does not give up her ambition. A race that technology pioneers actively pursue and assert themselves, shows that this market is extremely lucrative and full of potential.
