The Diary Game: Work week — a few random thoughts. 2 Sep 2025steemCreated with Sketch.

During August, people get out of the habit of taking their children to school, so the roads get extremely congested - it’s just from being unaccustomed. I can’t seem to find the motivation to get up a little earlier to make it to work on time, and these traffic jams just... drive me crazy.

At work I’m used to chaos and disorder, but in the first days after vacation, work goes smoothly and without extra load. It even feels strange to me, and this silence makes me a little uneasy. Like the calm before the storm. I work with people, and every day is unpredictable. When clients come at the appointed time, when they are polite toward me, the day is simply perfect. But when a complete stranger starts being rude, shows superiority, and by their behavior makes it clear that their interests are above everything else, or demonstrates intolerance toward my nationality - that’s the worst of all. Sometimes one such person can cross out all the positive things that happened to you in a day, and by evening I feel like a squeezed lemon, emotionally drained. It’s different every time, and you never know how the workday will end.

My wife is an office worker. She translates documents and helps the notary with daily matters. In this regard, I wanted to tell one incident that happened to her yesterday, and it relates to my previous paragraph about dealing with strangers. The notary had a female client who wanted to resolve some matters at a time when government institutions and the judicial system were on vacation last month. Because of the holiday period, her order was delayed, and the client was told that the delay was justified, nothing could be done, government offices simply weren’t working. The client got tired of waiting, caused a scene, and canceled the order. It was necessary to return her documents and money. The notary asked her to come to my wife’s office address to get the documents, and he would handle the money later himself. My wife had never seen this client before. She met her at the office entrance, shouting that she had been deceived, yelling, demanding the documents and money back. My wife was very scared, very stressed. She told her, “I’ve never met you, I have no clue what your issue is.” She, of course, returned the documents, but the notary would handle the money. After this incident my wife felt very bad. This strong emotional stress affected her overall condition. Unfortunately, we cannot choose our clients. Sometimes they are very foolish and refuse to accept facts that don’t depend on us. And in the end, they just pour all their accumulated negativity on the person providing the service and cause unjustified harm to that person’s health.

I’m talking too much about negative things. I understand that in life, for balance, there’s no way without them. But still, we need to try to move in a more positive direction and notice the beautiful things in life. After all, we ourselves shape our environment, we ourselves shape our destiny. And it all starts with our thoughts. As soon as we think about what we want, it begins to happen. I have some difficulties with this, but still, I am learning to think correctly.

Overall, my workday went well. I was still 5 minutes late for work. But it wasn’t a big deal, since my first client was also late, and he arrived much later than I did. On Tuesdays I usually have a short workday - I work 6 hours instead of 8. Most often it’s very difficult for me to find time for lunch, not only on short days but on regular days as well. But today everything worked in my favor, and I managed to eat. Already a little holiday (lol). As soon as I finished work, I went into a small shop to buy a couple of Kinder Bueno chocolates and then went home. We try to keep a small amount of chocolate at home, because in the evenings after a hard day at work, there are times when you want to eat some junk food, something sweet. Usually a small piece of chocolate in the evening suppresses this craving.

On the way home I wanted to pick up my wife from her office, but she told me that she was working on a new order and it would take her some more time, and she would be delayed a bit. At the same time she sent me a couple of documents to my email to check for translation accuracy. This way, I’d slightly speed up and ease her workday. We try to help each other and support each other in shared matters - that’s the whole essence of family relationships.

For the past two weeks in the evenings we’ve been watching the series “Modern Family”. It’s a comedy show with 20-minute episodes, which is very easy to watch, and in an evening you can get through 3 or 4 episodes. This allows us to distract ourselves a little and unload our minds after the workday. I recommend trying it.

Thank you for your attention! I wish each of you a good week, an excellent mood, and well-being!
