I understand the adjustment. Moving out we would need our deposit to pay for the next place and it is motivation to keep the house in good shape. We also work through an estate agent/ letting agent (not sure what you would call them. Realtor? Go go gadget Americanisms learnt from tv ) :) and its part of their rules.
