Take Two Aspirins And Call Me In The Morning!😅
We were heading home!🤗
It had been a wonderful visit with Phoenix, and Olivia……. and also there Mom and Dad!🥰
Yesterday was a beautiful Sunny day for our approx 100 mile drive back home!
“Silvertop do we have a flat tire!”😳
Traffic was stopped bumper to bumper, annoyed, angry drivers were beeping at each other, and the noise under the hood continued …..and grew louder!🙄
Liz quickly pulled over to the shoulder…….
The second photo was the exact spot!😮
“I don’t see anything honey!”
Then I had Liz pop the hood…………..
Immediately I could see the problem!🤔
The “V” groove belt that drives the power steering pump, the alternator, and the air conditioner, driving off the crankshaft was shredding into pieces!😬
“Can you fix it Silvertop?”
“I don’t think so Liz, it probably will require special tools from Suzuki!”
We were only six miles from our son’s townhome……
Thankfully, Bill and his Wife Agi, gifted us a AAA membership this past Christmas!😍
Liz was quickly on the phone to AAA, our membership including free towing up to 100 miles!😇
I was on my phone to my son………
“Dad, I just looked up your Suzuki, and the belt! I’m picking up two new belts one from NAPA, and one O’Reillys, we will use the best quality one! Have the tow truck bring you and the car back to my place! Have Mom pull her car nose first into my garage, we can fix this in an hour!”👍☺️
Liz was stressed……. Silvertop was stressed!
It took 2 1/2 hours before the tow truck arrived……..
Several police cars passed by……….
Not one stopped!😳
Finally Liz and I, and our Suzuki were dropped off in front of our son’s townhouse garage.
“Dad, I checked this repair on line while I waited for you guys…. let’s do this!”😊
The only way to reach this belt was by jacking up the front passenger tire, and removing it.
Then a large plastic cowling needed to be removed.
There it was ……this almost three foot long “V” belt shredded it into several pieces, but still barely intact!
Thirty minutes later my son with minimum help from Dad, had replaced the belt!🤗
“Dad let me test drive the Suzuki with you and Mom to Starbucks!”😍
Everything checked out good for our several mile long Coffee run in the dark, to town last night!🤗
This morning…. still a bit shell shocked…..
Silvertop and the Mrs packed up the Suzuki for the second day and started off on our 100 mile drive home!😅
You could tell Liz was nervous……..
Everything sounded good……
Mile after mile we drove towards home, all was well!👍
Finally Liz turned into our driveway, we were safely home!🤗
“We raised a very smart boy Liz, and just think, because of this repair, we got to spend an extra day with everyone!”🥰
“There’s no place like home” my friends!😊
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊
