Obviously you do not comprehend that anyone on Steemit can use someone else's content and claim to be the author. I can just go and open an account with your name claiming to be you and start earning by posting your content.

That's why users are asked for verification by external means. Obviously, you failed to understand it too. I guess you are the one who is not smart enough to get it.
