Brushing up my Brazilian-Portuguese (part 1). You will be able to form a small sentence after reading this post.

in #brazil9 years ago (edited)

I taught myself Brazilian-Portuguese in a year and that allowed me to speak to my girlfriend’s family in Brazil. They don’t speak English. It was a wonderful experience. Now I’m going on a trip to Porto, Portugal and in preparation for the trip I wanted to brush up my Portuguese knowledge. I thought it might be fun to share the basics.

I find Brazilian Portuguese to be a very logical language to learn. Of course like any other language they have a few (nasty) exceptions, but for the most part if you learn a few simple rules you will be able to have a basic conversation really fast. For this beginner lesson I will be using only regular rules.

By the end of this lesson you will be able to say in Brazilian-Portuguese (among allot of other things):

'I like Steemit!'

Conjugated verbs in present tense:

For this lesson, we are going to stick with present tense only. The great thing about Brazilian Portuguese is that you only need to remember 4 verb conjugations. This is much easier to remember than most languages! Here they are:

  1. Eu
  2. Você/Ele/Ela/
  3. Nós
  4. Vocês/Eles/Elas

Below is one example each for conjugating regular verbs ending with -ER –IR -AR. If you learn these it works the same for any other regular verb in Brazilian-Portuguese.
