Still looks good at 40! The design of the engine doesn't seem to have changed much, although the carriages seem to be forever changing the configurations. The latest East Midlands ones have far more leg room, better head height and better luggage storage.
Yes the only thing that hasn't changed in the carriage sets are the doors which you still need to push down and stick your hand out to open the door handle, oh and the 'Do not flush in the station' signs which were really nostalgic.
The railways are still fantastic and its nice to see the amount of freight being moved around increasing year on year, anything to get a few trucks off the road is OK by me!
The one next to it is a class 90, another oldie and first of the new generation electrics brought in the late 80s for the finishing of the electrification of the east coast mainline.
Yes, good to see more freight off the roads.
The class 90 doesn't look so familiar to me, whereas the other one is quite iconic.
