IMG_20250713_114736.jpg

Thank you @kouba01 for organising this challenge.I would like to share about my folk costumes that we normally wear at our different events including parties, our cultural wedding events etc.

Creativity and cultural value

I am sharing about creative and cultural value of all the costumes including lehnga, sarhee,Sharara, kameez etc so let's share about them one by one.

Lehenga

Lehengas are staple at weddings in my area KASUR city which shows intricate craftsmanship and heritage because these are made up through fabrics which looks luxurious including silk and jamawar and because of their shine they looks perfect for these events.Mostly girls like to wear lehnga at first day of wedding which is mehndi at which girls apply Hina at their hands and at hands of groom and bride too and enjoy mehndi event by playing with dholak which is a sort of musical instrument. There are different designers including HSY and Sana safinaz which use modern ideas to add creative embroidery and work of pearls and stones for making lehangas timeless choice of everyone.

Sarhee

Sarhee is another ancient garment style that basically shows elegancy and sophistication and it originated from INDUS CIVILIZATION.Sarhees have their own creativity in terms of having creative styles, motifs as well as designs and sarhee can be carried out in two different ways so you can set sarhee Palu or dopata at your shoulder as well you can let it fall from shoulder so that it gives a falling and elegant look as I have carried it to let it fall from shoulder in black colour you can see in my picture below.Sarhees see often weared at walima event which is third day of weddings as well as girls like to wear it at welcome or farewell parties and in this way by wearing it at our formal events we highlight their culture importance in our city KASUR.

Sharara

Sharara is one of most elegant and stylish choice for women of Pakistan and especially women of my area KASUR and these are creative in giving a characteristic of wide legged, pants which are famous due to their flamboyance so these are weared at formal events and festivals.I am wearing it in sky blue colour with sky blue dopata embroided with work of silver and copper wire and I am wearing it mehndi event as due to its flare it is giving shape and touch of lehnga so this is cultural significance, value and creativity of Sharara.

Kameez (Shalwar Kameez)

Shalwar kameez is traditional and national costume which is weared in all over Pakistan with different levels of styles and creativity in different cities. In one picture where I am wearing Sharara(I am wearing there black velvet kameez) but here I am pairing with Sharara not with trousers or Shalwar.Normally in Pakistan culture Shalwar kameez are embroidered with ajrak and phukari embroidery which is showing cultural heritage of Pakistan.Shalwar kmeez have evolved in terms that in old or ancient times kmeez length was bit down towards knees but now according to fashion it's length varies and sometimes it seems to be as long as it is about to touch ground and sometimes it becomes too short that it seems to appear just above knees and this costume is weared at casual routine as well at formal events or festivals.

Maxi

Maxi is one of most attractive flowing costume which is made with different styles like it may have an inner if it is sleeveless and it may be open from side or from center and often have creativity and versatility because of type of unique cultural mirror work, beads work, stones and pearls work.Maxi that I am wearing in skin colour have pearls, beads and stones work and Maxi are weared mostly at wedding second day which is barat where bride family welcomes groom family.

That was all about creativity of folk costumes, their cultural value or significance and their brief evolvement from ancient to modern costume styling.

Costume or art story, history

Here I would like to share costume story or history according to my area culture!

Lehenga

Lehanga choli(blouse or shirt)is basically an ancient India which particularly according to culture is three piece attire or costume which is worned by women in Vedic period and lehanga costume consist of Antriya which is a piece of costume weared as lehanga,Stanapatta which is developed into choli or shirt and at last Uttariya which is basically dopata normally weared with lehnga choli at shoulder and particularly in Mughal era,in subcontinent this costume were weared by Mughal women which was a symbolism of elegance and pride for them.

Sarhee

Sarhee is a traditional and old costume which have its roots in INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION which have versatility because of their creativity in styles and then it was also draped in different styles all over India so sarhee is basically Indian fashion from centuries and it is considered their pride as they wear it as their national costume.

Maxi

Maxi costume is a long, flowing costume famous due to its flamboyant design which starts from neck and shoulder and smoothly goes down till ankles or floor and this dress is originated from South Asia culture which evolved with time and then it becomes famous in different cultures and now these are weared widely in different countries and particularly in my area.

Kameez (Shalwar Kameez)

Shalwar kameez is again South Asian costume which was originated by Mughal era if we move back in history and in Mughal court both men and women were used to wear it and Persian as well central Asians stylists have significant impact at evolvement of this costume and this dress was a symbol of sophistication at that time.

Sharara

Sharara originated in Mughal era and at that times it was normally weared by royalty,Mughal queens and aristocrats.Sharara is a persian word which can be translated as flow(flow of costume)which is characterized by wide legged, pants having a good flair so queens weared this costumes as a symbol of showing their elegant, royal status during that time.

Fashion fusionFolk costume that are weared in my area KASUR, Pakistan have a fusion and touch of different cultures and fashion including Mughal era,Indus civilization, subcontinent,South Asian, Indian which evolved in different ways of styles and creativity from ancient to present times and still fashion tends to evolve

Community World Tour Jury

Thank you soo much professor for your kind reviews
I will keep these things in consideration and will focus to add additional creativity next time

Hola.

Thank you for your coming at my post and discovering my cultural costumes that we wear at different events!
I am happy that my culture attracts you!
I would also like to know about your culture!
Soon I will visit your entry
Thank you and blessings 😌

I think I've tried wearing the India sarhee those days I used to watch Indian movies. I was so obsessed with this culture to the point that I danced like them. I don't know how expensive this material is in your place. Is there a special type of sarhee won by people who wants to marry and those already married? Can any other type of material be used in place of sahree

That's good to know about your obsession about wearing sarhees!
Basically sarhees can be prepared by expert tailors and these may be customised
But if you buy it from market then it cost minimum of 200 steem so it's reasonable price of costume to wear at weddings! In my culture in place of sarhee you may use maxi lehnga choli also irrespective of that thing that a person is married or unmarried
Thank you for asking reasonable questions

Wow. This is understood and the price is reasonable as you said. Thanks for your quick response

My pleasure 😀
