Idiom presentation in Punjabi(Local language)is JHUKDA DARAKHT E PHAL DENDA AAY
In English translation it is A tree which bends gives fruit.
It's an idiom in which you can see that words are simple and different but it's meaning and context is totally change then the words of idiom.Let's delve into it's meaning and explanation!
Meaning:A humble person always become successful in direct or indirect way.
Explanation:
This traditional idiom reflects that how much humility is significant in life.If we explain idiom context then there are tall, proud trees which can look mighty but there are also trees which bow down with all weight of fruit which grows around tree and that bow tree actually benefit other people. In same way people who are grounded are always respectful and successful because they significantly shows their contribution in a positive way for society and relations.
Real-Life Context:
A person who always remains humble in relationships and daily life matters always become successful in comparison to that people who always feel proudy and neglect inferior people because of their achievements so humility always creates harmony anywhere you see in this way while arrogance always causes friction.
Pointing out idiom originality through a comprehensive story
4 years back my father told me a story that my grandfather told to my father and my ancestors before told this story to my grandfather that we have listened a story about tortoise and rabbit that rabbit always became proud of his speed in running and tortoise always feels ashamed but one day both of them decide a race in which because of proudy nature of rabbit he thought that tortoise is very far from targeted point so I may sleep for some minutes and he sleeps under a tree but tortoise continues his struggle and finally he reached to targeted point and rabbit upon getting up laugh at tortoise by thinking that still he is very far from targeted point but when he reached to final destination then he feel ashamed to see that tortoise is already there so despite of being proudy we should be thankful to Allah and we should continue efforts in life, once my father said to me some years back.
He started a real life story by relating story of tortoise and rabbit that in family of my father there was a man who have a significant loss when my father was young in his business and at that time his other business partner was in profit and that man asked for financial help in form of compromise in business but other business partner refuses to help that man and at time my father told me that he was financially stable but not rich and still my father helped him with some money and with that money gradually that man stable himself in his business.Meanwhile on other hand other business partner was in loss at that time.
Other business partner never asked for help from that man but he helped him with some money for sake of goodness upon which that business partner who was proudly refused to help in time of distress feel very ashamed so my father concluded the story by saying that always stay grounded because life is a name of ups and downs where two days are of happiness and two days are of sorrow so always balance it by helping eachother and by always staying in limits and then end the discussion by saying that because A tree that bends gives fruit (JHUKA DARAKHT E PHAL DENDA AAY)
Modern proverb that I get after this idiom meaning, explanation and comprehensive story is that:Stay grounded,Stay wealthy,Stay obsessed.
Cultural significance and deep meaning of this idiom in my origin depalpur is that this idiom is originated from my area Depalpur situated in Punjab province of Pakistan by an ancestors who were probably my grandfather's grandfather.I am basically from Depalpur where being proudy at that time was considered a sign of making others feel lower and inferior and at that time normally illeteracy was common that's why the people who was appointed for governing village matters always thinks to be superior and they always make other villagers feel that they have less respect and they have less superiority than them as they are appointed as governing major village matters.
Grandfather of my grandfather's was a Sufi person who always followed teaching of islam religion that's why his mentality was broader according to my grandfather (the way he told about his grandfather). At that time first he said that idiom(JHUKDA DARAKHT E PHAL DENDA AAY)and this idiom get famous at that time because of it's deep meaning so it was a cultural significance and story behind origin.
It is linked with my heritage because my grandfather's grandfather was well known Sufi person of Depalpur at that time but other party was always proudy for governing village matters but villagers who always respected my ancestors give them advice to introduce voting system in Depalpur so my grandfather told me in story that in this way because of villagers personal will voting system in village was introduced and in 1901 my grandfather's grandfather was first appointed as the one who governed village matters.
At that time everyone was happy at that and my grandfather told that his grandfather never feel proudy after getting this chance and was as humble as he was before getting governance of Depalpur and now he died but his teachings, his lessons, morality everything is alive in our culture and whenever someone starts business, someone deals with serious matter in village then they always remember that no one is as humble,as polite than Muhammad FAYAZ UL DIN who is basically my ancestor (My grandfather's grandfather)and this whole story I heard from my grandfather.
In this way this idiom have in depth meaning and in depth link with my heritage and culture significance!

Here in sketch you can see two trees in which one tree seems to bend and other tree is taller which is at right side so the tree leaves which are bent because of load of fruits over it is giving fruits and at ground you can see that there are sweet fruit dates but ground which is near a tall tree is just occupied with dried leaves and there's no fruit here so a tree with fruit is just like humble person who stay grounded and have humanity in him due to which he also serves others and becomes successful but the person who is proudy and taller like tall tree will always look proudy,he can't have fruit in life in form of success because he don't serve others and no one can take benefit from him and this is all I have explained about this creative sketch in my local language Punjabi.
