Wordsmiths Fiction Week 1: The Disappeared Leader
Hello my steemian friends..
I am very happy to be back to greet you all. On this occasion I will try to enter a very interesting contest, which invites us to imagine and tell a story about a missing captain. It's a very interesting and unique theme.
Alright, let's get started!
In 1997, a simple cargo ship undertook a relatively small freight forwarding expedition. The ship was a type c vessel, which is a vessel with a low carrying capacity. The crew was also relatively small. Only around 10-15 people.
Right in the middle of May, the ship traveled to make a delivery of goods. Usually in May, sea conditions are normal. The weather is also usually very good because summer is underway. However, not for this expedition.
When they reached the middle of the sea, the weather slowly turned bad. The sky darkened, thunder crashed, and the waves rose to 7 meters. A sign that a perfect storm was coming this time. To make matters worse, all the ship's communication devices were cut off instantly. Panic was inevitable. Captain Luis, as the main captain on this expedition ordered the entire crew to prepare for the worst possibility. That is shipwreck.
The ship was tossed around in the ocean for about 3 hours. The entire crew tried their best to keep the ship from sinking and get to the destination to deliver the goods. They all prayed to survive and meet their beloved family members.
Good fortune is still on their side. Soon the storm subsided. But with all communication devices down, they weren't sure how far they had traveled. They were just thankful that it wasn't their last night at sea.
In the darkness of the night, they saw the shadow of the island and the light of the lighthouse. Captain luis decided to anchor, hoping to get help from the island crew such as equipment and communication devices.
Arriving at the island, they disembarked and found a place to rest around the lighthouse. Some of the crew members were assigned to look for islanders. But they didn't find a single person around the small island. Just a lighthouse with a rotating light with no other signs of life.
Exhausted from the stormy seas, the crew went to sleep. But not for Captain Luis. He didn't seem to believe the crew's report that this was an uninhabited island. His critical mind forced him to go alone into the center of the island to search for the islanders.
The next morning the crew woke up. They gathered to debrief and make plans for the next day. But Captain Luis was nowhere to be seen that morning. They asked around, but no one had seen or heard about Captain Luis.
Captain leo, the vice-captain of the expedition, took charge and ordered the entire crew to search for captain luis. They began their search by tracing the coastline to the center of the island. That day the crew's efforts were fruitless. Captain luis was nowhere to be found.
The search continued for three days and Captain Luis was still missing. They were all almost desperate and some of them had already given up on Captain Luis. As they were heading back to the ship, there was a loud bang at the edge of the island. Captain leo ordered the entire crew to check out where the sound was coming from.
Arriving at the location of the source of the sound, they were all surprised by what they saw. A large inscription was written on the beach. “LEAVE”. They looked at each other as if they were asking what it meant. But captain leo loudly ordered the entire crew to leave the island immediately. To him it was a message that there was something dangerous about this island.
They left the island and Captain Luis without knowing whether he was alive or dead. They were too scared to think about it. For them the messages were all too real and they didn't want to risk losing the rest of the crew.
They went back to thinking. Not everything has an explanation. What happened to them was a great mystery that might never be solved. The ocean is still so vast and so unexplored. Captain Luis is probably one of the people who experienced first-hand the mysteries of the ocean. However, all the crew members on this expedition wish him well wherever he is.
Message of the story:
Sometimes courage and a sense of responsibility do carry great risks. But not every question has to have an answer. Let them remain a mystery. The most important thing is to take care of each other and survive together.
