** Bag completion!**

Ok I know the strap looks bad. Well ya the bag is done but still working on the strap and the shoulder pad for the strap. This strap came off an old Swiss Army bag I have. Anyway please post some comments on what you think and vote, vote, vote! I need to start working on another one right away. It's just a leather Market bag so it should be much easier that this thing was. Thanks for looking all!

Hope you liked it? I designed the holder on the back to fit an axe or hatchet. All hand cut leather, hand stitched, hand hammered rivets. I added lots of pockets and D-rings for all kinds of goodies to be put in or hooked on. The main pouch has a zippered YKK pocket inside for personals. I made the flap over a natural raw edge look. Makes the bag look like its already been broken in.

Thanks for looking. Please help out by Upvoting and resteeming. I really appreciate the views.

Check out part one and two of the bag below.

I really like this, but please, get a blade cover on that hatchet!

LOL yeah That's probably one of the only one I have that doesn't have a cover. Reason being is I was thinking about tracking down an original Military issue cover. :)

wow that looks fantastic sir are the two links videos of making this project ? if so I'll watch them once I've done work in the yard and enjoyed the sun shine :D thanks for sharing

Yes they are. Thanks for looking and thanks for the compliment. :)

thank's for the reply I totally forgot to check the other links out till now love the work you got a new follower :D thanks again

It looks really good! I find leather working fascinating and intimidating. Your stitching is really even. What kind of sewing machine do you use?

Its a really fine work I really like that bag. Voted and following :) Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much! :)

Looks amazing!!! How did you get into leatherworking? If someone wanted to take this up as a hobby how much investment is involved?

My leather experience is limited to an outdoor ed class where we stamped our names into bracelets but I did find it quite enjoyable.

Not much to start like anything but as you progress you want better tools, better leather, better thread etc. Yeah then it costs. The thread alone I use is $54.00 a small roll but the best you can get. Thanks for looking.

Oh I just told my wife one day, I said wife! I'm going to start doing leather work. She looked at me like I was crazy, laughed and walked away. Made me want to do it more. Now she is always looking over my shoulder to see what I'm making. No more laughing. lol

That's funny, my gf is the same way. In fairness I tend to be one of these people who gets obsessed with a new hobby for a few weeks and then is on to the next thing but my gf is always laughing at all the wierd and interesting new hobbies I become obsessed with. Leatherworking has been on my mind for a while although glass blowing is my new recent obsession. Last summer was sailing.

Well my recent one is Blacksmithing. I already have a forge I made on 3 legs from a tractor implement disc and 2 anvils. Tools and 175 rail road spikes I am practicing on now. ) Cool man just do it start making leather stuff. You wont regret it.

You can get supplies from Tandy, they are like the JoAnns of leathercraft. I buy leather garments, belts, purses from thrift stores, to cut up, too. Start small, with a few basic items, and you will figure out what direction and what tools you will want. :)

I love it! What does a handmade bag like that sell for?

I'll be posting it on my site for $420.00 with the army hatchet and army blanket when done. Blanket will attach to D-rings on bottom. Thanks for the kind words and voting! Anything hand stitched using saddle stitch always goes for more. This if machine done. maybe $280.00 but hand made lasts generations.

Good for you buddy! All that hard and creative work is worth it :)

Thank you sir. Please resteem if you like. If not its ok. Thanks. Oh BTW we need to talk about a leather crafters badge but I need to get more cash in here first. :)

Thanks, that means a lot!

That is awesome! Is that your makers mark on it? It will be killer when the strap is done. Great, great job! ^voted and resteemed for your craftsmanship.

Thank you so much. Yes that's my stamp. Thanks so much for the upvote and resteem! :)

Beautiful! Heading back to see parts 1 and 2 of this project. Great work

Thank you so much. Yeah I enjoyed making it but it was time consuming. Think i'll stick to market bags. lol

Man I think that bag is awesome actually I just bought my first leather sewing awl and pack of scrap leather parts from Hobby Lobby last week. I want to learn to do these things as well I love good quality leather goods. New follower here looking forward to possibly learning some leatherworking skills from you. Be blessed talk to you soon

I'm glad you like it. I haven't been doing leather and Kydex long. Only a couple of years. You can do it too. I started exactly like you did. Hobby Lobby and scrap leather. Most of all you have to have fun with it. You will make some mistakes but learn from it and don't give up! Good luck my friend. God Bless!
My site away from here on ETSY. Will be listing that bag on there shortly.

No You Tube. I saw how they were treating people so I never joined. I am on ETSY, Face Book and here. I am on Face Book same name as ETSY.
