Who are the Players and Victims? [Business insight]
Taking responsibility for one's own actions is the first step towards the formation of a successful business.
Hello, friends! Enjoy reading)
Think: when something goes wrong at work, do you blame someone else, although the fault may be your mistake? If yes, then it's time for you to begin to answer for your actions.
Relatively speaking, at work there are two types of people: players and victims.
You want to be a player - they nurture their self-esteem,
Not only carrying out actions, but also taking responsibility for them.
The player knows:
- He / she is not omnipotent (flax).
- He / she understands: since there are many things that can not be controlled by his / her influence, his / her goal is to concentrate only on those phenomena that he / she can control.
On the contrary, the victims rise,
- Accusing all others and convincing themselves that their actions are always ideal. You often meet with this in the business world, where general managers and managers in case of failure point to external factors, rather than to their own shortcomings.
For example, Michael - the head of sales - there is a team of sales staff.
He suddenly found out that the HR department had hurried and made a vacation schedule without consulting with him. Now he will suffer from a shortage of employees in February - the busiest month of the year.
Angry Michael insists that this issue was a problem for the HR department, not his own.
Therefore, he does not try to do anything about it. But since Michael will be the only one who will suffer from the consequences, the problem was exactly him, even if he did not create it. Therefore, instead of presenting himself as a victim, he should take action to resolve the issue.
So, how to turn from a victim into a player?
Start by mastering the language used by the players.
Instead of "it's hopeless" say "I have not found a solution yet." And in the same way, instead of the passive "I must go away," use "I want to go away." Thus, you will begin to realize your responsibility for everything that is happening around you.
And this is the essence of the player!
Do not give up, there, where others start their journey!
