It's been a lull business season
When you are doing any business there are high and low seasons. As some of you may know I run a home stay business, and September is one of the worst month for me, after which February. Practically these 2 months, business is very negligible and sometimes not even recovering the maintenance cost. In the first year I did not have much idea about it, but now in the second year it is becoming common. I always need to make provisions from the other months to take care of the expenses of these 2 months.
Basically this is that in-between time of 2 major festivals and also children exams, so people go slow on holidays. From May to Aug maximum business happens and then September sees a steep dip. I guess it is a part and parcel of any business that one does. In the first year I was not prepared for it, and I worried a lot, thinking something is wrong with my services, though some people in the business did tell me about it, but I felt they were just trying to console me.
When you are running a business it is painful to see things not moving at a particular time. To balance it out, I maintain complete records of all the cash inflow and outflow, so that I am able to plan it better. Even though it is my second year in the business now, there are still new things that keep surfacing and I keep learning with every experience. When you are running a business all that matters in the end is are you making any money or not, because if the earnings is not equivalent to your efforts then your business strategies may be completely wrong.
These lull periods are very nerve wrecking but then I have to accept them and worrying about it brings no solution.
