My family in New Brunswick make what they call “Bean hole beans”. A hole is dug. Lined with rocks. A fire built. Enter the Dutch oven with the beans and ingredients (like baked beans). More rocks over the Dutch oven and then buried with dirt. Left over night and then exhumed. Delicious!
