Fighting against cancer

in #cancer23 hours ago

Through my life I have seen many people who have fought against Cancer, some of them have fought and recovered, some of them have fought and finally given up, and in all of them I find extreme pain. Cancer has become so common and still it does not have 100% guaranteed cure. There are many people I know who have been extremely careful with their health and still got Cancer. It has not even shown up in the initial stages, it has shown up in stage 3 and 4.

I lost one of my very dear friends to Cancer 2 years ago. I still cannot believe she is no more. Sometimes I feel that we have just not connected for a long time and we will soon. She was of my age. A very lively and energetic girl, a person full of life who always wanted to live life at its best. She developed breast cancer, she got treated well and recovered, she got the best treatment and her recovery was good. We were all happy that she was out of it, and then after 2 years it came back again, with full vengeance and just within 2 weeks everything was over, she was gone and it just does not sink in till date how it all happened.

My aunt had breast cancer and for years she fought, she lived a long life with it but then in her old age she could not keep up with it and gave away. Another friend she developed and it got diagnosed at a very early stage, she got treated for it, but the heavy treatments have permanently set her back in many ways. Her right hand has no strength. One of my other friend's sisters had it. I call her a warrior, she fought for almost 20 years, but I feel that it was treacherous, in the end it spread in her whole body and ate her up. She was also a Ted Talk speaker where she gave motivational talks on fighting cancer. She was ever smiling and so very pretty. The treatments over the years took away all her physical beauty but could not defeat the beauty of her soul. Till the end she had a very positive outlook towards life.

Cancer is just not about fighting physically but also mentally. All of these ladies I have seen them fighting bravely and not giving up. I just wish miracles would have happened for them. When there will be a complete cure to it, who knows. The thing that we can do is keep a check on our health all the time. There is no age to start with regular health check-ups, even a 20-year-old should do it regularly and a 50-year-old should do it very regularly.

I have deep respect for all those who are fighting against Cancer and only wish that they find a permanent recovery in their fight.
