RE: Cars and trucks
Dad was born in Malaysia to Indian parents. My ancestors on my mum's side came here as convicts from England, copper miners and tradesmen in the early 1800's. It might seem odd for me to say so, but us Aussie's wear our convict-heritage like a badge of honour (honor).
Howdy today sir galenkp! What an interesting heritage, that is wonderful. I've read quite a bit about the country being used as a one large penal colony.
It sort of was - Colonised by the British of course, then used as a place to send the detritus of society (convicts, a.k.a. my ancestors). Mainly Port Arthur as used as the penal colony although there were a few other small ones.
