RE: Will the world fail Catalonia, again?
I'm curious if someone (much smarter than I), can elaborate on the philosophical question, if a minority region such as Catalonia votes democratically for sovereignty but the Spanish states public do not agree with the independence then is it really democratic? Can there be a referendum without everyone actually voting... to me it sounds like one region decided to make this decision without the rest of the Spanish peoples vote?
Also i really dont mean offence to anyone, appologies if this comes off rude. I just really want to understand more of it.
I don't know if I am smarter than you, but I'll put my reading list up against anyone's.
This boils down to is it ok to rule by force.
Some Catalonians say no, it is not ok to force me to do what you want me to do.
Other Catalonians embrace their slavery, as do most 'Spaniards'.
Hell, most of the world will tell you that there must be a boss.
I agree that leadership improves efficiencies, but bosses are, too often, not good examples to follow.
So, ultimately the question is whether every knee shall bow to Madrid, or can we have freedom?
The problem of the rule by forcers is that if they can escape enslavement in Catalonia we can have freedom anywhere in the world.
The beast/state needs to be fed, so war is what it will be.
If the rest of the world allows it the good people, the freedom lovers, will be genocided and their killers hailed as heroes.
Thanks for the reply. I understand what your saying about ruling by force. But what i dont understand is how a small group can say they no longer want to be part of a whole. Its like they are saying to all the millions of non catalonian spanish, i know you guys want to stay united but its not working for us, so were leaving... Then when the spanish democracy says " well hold on, if you want to leave, we need the entire country to vote on it as it affects everyone, you cant just make this decision by yourself". Then catalonia is like "wow, i dont know why your so upset it is my decision... I do what i want".
So yeah that was my thoughts, but i am not from europe so struggle to understand geopolitical/historical/cultural sensativites from the region. It just seems like the whole world is putting up fences and saying they want to be alone... What happened to "we are strongest when united".
P.s. Sorry if my satircal tone sounded insincere, not intended that way.
I don't think you do,...
How can I be part of a whole unless I consent to the arrangement?
You are presuming that the whole has a right to use violence to maintain it's control of the masses.
Catalonia just wants to be left to do their thing.
Evil wasn't resisted and now it is exposing it's self.
Until 'we' stop 'consenting' to be ruled by force this is what we get.
