A Heatwave Proof visit to Budapest?

Yesterday we decided to take the train instead of bus to Budapest to be present on August 20, a National celebration (memorial) day.

We let us self drop at a station with a direct connection.
The price for a day ticket was: 999 huf only (if you give your ID).

The journey went faster than expected. We followed the stream of people and ended where we had to be.
Since we travel light (and I took my painting stuff with me there was no way to bring along enough vlothes for all weather circumstances. All together we still had too much stuff) but we did visit the area with a small backpack (the hotel couldn't be entered before 2 pm).

The monument

At the end of the day we visited the theater to see the memorial. It was a long stroll after a day of walking.
The temp was good about 32°C so not too warm. The only problem was we had nothing to drink.

We ended the day with a hot cocoa in the hotel from a machine (big glass - 300 forint. It was way better than expected. The only thing that missed was a spoon to stirr we brought our own).

The total of my day out was:

• Train (day ticket): 999 forint
• Bottle water - 2 liter (Spar - the water from the tap smells but I use it for tea): 139 forint
• Yoghurt (4 portions - not eaten - Spar): 600 forint
• Corn chips (not eaten - Spar): 139
• Tempera (paint- 6x 16 ml - Müller) : 1790 forint

1 euro is: 394 Huf (forint)
