Friend forever

 

• Bengy..

 

Bengy was already an old dog and his favourite thing was to lie on sofa and sharing the company with his owner, who also was an old man Thomas. Thomas has taken Bengy when he was about a month old and the friend of Thomas recently had new born puppies there were four of them and he offered to Tom, who was his old friend and who lost his wife about 10 years ago and was very lonely. That time Tom was 70 years old and pulled back from all the activities, stopped seeing his friends and family. That is why his friend offered his to adopt Bengy because he did not want to give him away to stranger. When Tom saw Bengy he immediately liked him and was happily running and jumping around him, that was the moment that Tom thought: “Why not, still it is better to have someone rather being alone”

Since Tom and Bengy were together, the life has changed for Tom, he had now his goal in his life, he was busy with training Bengy and they had their routine. Tom started to have his daily walking and even they travelled to seaside and forests, that also positively shown on the mood and health of Tom.

 

• A fright..

 

Everything was great but time does not stop and that means everything gets older. Now they were together for 13 years, it was noticeable that both Tom and Bengy were slower than before, but still continued their regular exercises. One morning Tom was grilling BBQ on terrace, in one moment he felt that his left arm started to hurt in shoulder, it came very suddenly that Tom was not sure if it was his muscle or something else, he stopped for a moment and noticed how pain and feeling of cold started to spread from arm to left side of chest, neck and every time when he was breathing he was not able to breath because it was a knife like stitch in his chest. He slowly was sliding on the ground, Bengy immediately run to Tom and started to smell him, in one moment he froze and his whole appearance became anxious, he looked into Tom’s eyes and then looked around. He noticed that the neighbour was also in garden so he run to neighbour and started to bark and jump every time when neighbour was looking at home he was then running to terrace. The neighbour had a spare key from Tom’s house, so he entered and found Tom on terrace unconscious.

 

• Alone..

 

The next ambulance arrived and took Tom, who was still unconscious but breathing. Bengy was scarred now he was alone, Tom’s neighbour took Bengy to himself and tried to continue his routine activities, but Bengy did not have any mood, he did not want to move and was just lying on sofa, he was grateful for the neighbour for his care but he decided that he will not live without Tom.

Every day when the neighbour was coming home, he saw Bengy like that he made a photo so that next time he visits Tom he can show him Tom’s old friend.
