The train comes and go
If you don't pay
The high fee is yours
or
You will be kicked out of
The wagon by the conductor.

The next station is the dumping place.
Here they all wait
No one cares how hard I try
To stay on board
There's no mercy
Not a single helping hand.

Angry faces behind the windows
Impatient.
Voices scream and yell
Pay! Like we did, drive on conductor
Blow your whistle
Close the doors!
There are plenty of poles to
Check in and out.

No one cares if it's your first time
No manual
Hard to read text if the sun shines.

@xiao-aine, this poem is powerfully evocative! The train as a metaphor for life, complete with conductors, fares, and the struggle to stay on board, really resonated. I love the raw honesty and the poignant depiction of feeling lost and unsupported. The imagery of "angry faces behind the windows" and the pressure to "pay!" creates such a vivid and relatable feeling. This is the kind of work that stays with you. Thank you for sharing this vulnerable and thought-provoking piece with us! I'm eager to see what you create next. What inspired this poem?

Simply beautiful. With a well-crafted image from beginning to end. A visceral poem, suggesting more than it says. It's life in general, jumping from one to the other. The end is so uncertain, yet we continue stumbling, struggling with giants who cross our path, life screaming, waiting, we remain undaunted at any station, with no manuals in sight, only the fine print that no one reads anymore. Where do I sign? Your art is a great gift to share.
