Bundaberg Rum Distillery Tour
Hi it’s Erin. 👋
I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Last week, when we went up to Hervey Bay, we also took a trip to Bundaberg.
From the Sunshine Coast it takes about 4 hours to get to Bundaberg, but from Hervey Bay it was only about 1 hour and 30 minutes—so much closer!

Bundaberg is a charming regional city in Queensland, famous for its sugar cane fields and friendly local vibe.
It’s best known for Bundaberg Rum, as well as Bundaberg brewed drinks like ginger beer.
The town also has lovely old buildings, a relaxed pace, and a warm, sunny climate.
It’s a perfect spot to explore a bit of Queensland’s sweet side—literally!

Our family decided to join the Bundaberg Rum Distillery Tour.
It’s a fascinating place where you can see how sugar cane turns into world-famous rum.
The weather was just perfect that day, so our photos turned out great.
That’s not a white fluffy cloud over the roof in my picture—it’s actually smoke from burning sugar cane!
For the tour, adults pay $30 AUD and kids $15 AUD.
Even though it was a weekday, there were about 50 people on each tour—probably because it’s school holidays.
Inside, it was like a little museum showing the rich history of Bundaberg Rum.
One wall was absolutely covered with bottles—so many different rums!
Sadly, we had to hand over our phones before the tour for safety reasons, so I couldn’t take any photos while we walked through.
The tour lasted about 50 minutes, and at the end, there was a tasting where you could try two types of rum.
I only had a tiny sip since I was driving, so my wife ended up enjoying my share too. 😂
Our son was given a ginger beer instead, which he loved.
All in all, we had such a fun day, helped by the gorgeous weather.
Hope you’re all doing well—I’ll be back with another post soon.
(And if you haven’t already, please check out my previous posts too!)
