A Day’s Journey on the Titas Commuter Train: From Dhaka to Brahmanbaria
Hello dear friends,
I hope you all are doing well and spending a beautiful life with your loved ones. I wish you all happiness and peace.
In the hustle and bustle of city life, a trip back to the village often feels like finding peace and serenity in its purest form. About two months ago, my younger sister came to stay with me in Dhaka. Since she has always been accustomed to the quiet, rural life, Dhaka’s chaos, traffic, and noise felt like a kind of captivity to her. Even though we took her out to different restaurants and explored parts of the city, she would constantly say, “Please take me back to the village, I don’t feel good here.”
Finally, I managed to take a day off from work and decided it was time to return her home. When she first came to Dhaka, my younger brother had accompanied her, but on the way back, I had to take her myself.
The Struggle of Getting Tickets
One of the most popular modes of travel from Dhaka to the villages is the train. But since I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to go, I didn’t buy tickets in advance. On the morning of our journey, I suddenly decided that we would take the Titas Commuter Train to Brahmanbaria. This train is very popular among travelers to that route.
Upon arriving at the station, I was met with a long queue for tickets. Like everyone else, we too had to wait in line. Finally, I, my younger sister, and my wife managed to get our tickets in hand. That moment brought a sigh of relief and excitement.
The Train Journey
Although the Titas train was scheduled to leave at 9:45 AM, for various reasons it was delayed and finally departed at around 10:15 AM. Once it started, however, the train picked up speed and moved swiftly.
Through the window, I watched as one scenic frame after another unfolded—lush green fields, small rural stations, and glimpses of everyday life in the countryside. It felt like watching a living painting.
Midway through the journey, rain began to fall. Sitting inside the train, listening to the rhythmic sound of raindrops and watching them trickle down the window glass was an indescribable joy. The beauty of nature made the entire trip even more memorable.
Arrival in Brahmanbaria
At around 12:30 PM, we reached Brahmanbaria. Stepping off the train, I felt relieved that we had finally arrived. From there, it took us another hour to reach our home in the village. Despite the fatigue, there was a sense of happiness—because after so long, I was able to bring my sister back to the place she loves the most.
The Village Atmosphere
Shortly after we arrived home, it started raining again. The rain in the village felt completely different from that in the city. The freshness of the greenery, the open fields, the trees swaying in the breeze—all combined with the raindrops to create an enchanting environment.
After lunch, I fell into a deep sleep, and that nap felt so peaceful and refreshing—something I could never have experienced in the city. It was as if all the exhaustion of the journey had disappeared, replaced with a newfound energy.
This journey reminded me once again that no matter how modern and advanced the city becomes, the calmness of village life and the embrace of nature always bring a unique kind of comfort. The hassle of the ticket line, the rain along the way, and the ultimate peace upon reaching the village—all came together to make this trip a truly unforgettable experience.
Thanks all
