A Rainy Evening with Hot Snacks

The morning started with extreme heat. When I was going to the office, the sun was burning so bright that it felt almost impossible to walk outside. After reaching the office, I opened the newspaper and saw the weather forecast. It said, rain may come after noon. I wondered if that would really happen because the sun was so strong.

As the day went on, the sun moved higher, and the heat kept increasing. But suddenly, dark clouds covered the sky. Within minutes, heavy rain started with strong winds. It felt like nature had finally cooled down the burning heat of the morning. From the office window, I enjoyed watching the rain—people running with umbrellas, children happily playing in the water, and the streets shining with fresh rain.

The forecast was right. From noon until evening, rain came again and again. After finishing work, I returned home in the evening, fully soaked like a wet crow. But the moment I entered the house, a delicious smell welcomed me.

A few minutes later, hot and crispy snacks came to the table. Along with them was homemade tomato sauce. Unlike store-bought sauce, this one had a fresh, sweet-and-sour taste because it was made from real tomatoes. Taking one bite of the hot snack dipped in the sauce made me forget all the tiredness of the day. The rainy evening turned into a beautiful memory.

Rain and food have a special connection in our culture. Rainy days often remind us of khichuri, beguni (fried eggplant), aloo chop, or hot puffed rice with mustard oil and chilies. Many childhood memories are connected with these foods. Eating freshly cooked snacks on a rainy day brings back those warm, happy feelings.

That day was no different. After the scorching sun and sudden rain, sitting with family and enjoying hot snacks made the evening truly special. The sound of rain outside and the taste of warm food inside created a perfect balance of comfort and joy.

In the end, I realized one thing—nature’s sudden changes, from heat to rain, bring diversity to our life. And when shared with loved ones and good food, these simple moments become unforgettable.
