Those sweet moments of childhood.
Hello dear friends,
I hope you all are doing well and spending a beautiful life with your loved ones. I wish you all happiness and peace.
Childhood—those carefree days when there were no responsibilities, no tough calculations of life. It was a happy world where joy was hidden in just one taka or even 50 paisa. Those days now live only in memories. Sometimes, a sudden sight brings those moments back before my eyes.
A few days ago, I was walking along a narrow dirt road in my village. Suddenly, I saw a group of children gathered around a pushcart. The cart owner was collecting old iron, plastic, and bottles from the kids, and in return, he was giving them ice cream and small toys. Watching them instantly took me back to my childhood—when we used to do the same, trading old stuff for little joys.
Back in my childhood, a man used to come to our area with his cart. He would collect old iron, tin, bottles, or used batteries. In return, he gave us ice cream, chocolate, toys, or a sweet treat worth just one taka. My siblings and friends would run around the house looking for anything old to trade. Finding something felt like winning a prize. And that ice cream or plastic-wrapped soft chocolate was nothing less than heavenly for us.
Today’s generation, growing up with smartphones and the internet, may never understand the joy we found in a one-taka ice cream. Back then, happiness came from the simplest things—but the impact was deep and lasting.
Looking back now, those memories make my heart feel light. The friendships we had, the innocent love, the way we shared ice cream, and even those little fights over who got more—everything feels like a silent cry for the pure joy we miss in today’s fast life.
That day, as I stood watching those children, I felt like I was one of them. I could see my younger self—wearing half pants, covered in sweat, carrying a bag of old things, and holding a plastic bottle in hand. It was like looking at a reflection of my past.
Time has changed, but the taste of those childhood moments, that innocent joy—they still live deep in a corner of my heart. No matter how old we get or how high we rise in life, we can never truly forget the simplicity of childhood.
In today’s busy city life, where we’re always rushing and tired, such a memory can stop us for a moment. It reminds us to think about those innocent days. Because within those memories lies a quiet, pure way to return to ourselves—and to what real happiness feels like.
Thanks all
