SLC25-W3 // "Caprese Salad."

Friends, I am pleased to also be a participant in this contest, which I find interesting. As soon as I saw Caprese salad, which is something I love eating most of the time, I told myself that I would join the challenge and share how I prepare Caprese salad.

Caprese salad is not too common in Nigeria, like how it is very common in Italy. Simply put, it is an Italian traditional dish that is best known for its simplicity, bold flavors, and freshness. Caprese salad originates from the island of Capri, Italy, which is why it is called Caprese salad. Let me share with you how I locally prepare mine.

Ingredients

• Fresh tomatoes

• Cucumber

• Fresh vegetable leaves

• Extra virgin olive oil

• Grinded pepper

The fresh tomatoes are ripe and juicy, and the olive oil is used for drizzling and pepper for seasoning.

Preparation

• I first wash the ingredients and keep them aside, before I begin slicing the tomatoes. I slice the tomatoes into even, round pieces.

• After slicing the tomatoes, I then lay them down on a plate and leave them.

• I slice the cucumber also and keep aside

• I tucked the leaf in between

• I then add dressing to taste which I begin by adding pepper.

• I then add olive oil.

This is the final look of my Caprese salad.

Why I like Caprese Salad

I like Caprese salad for the following reasons:

• It is easier to prepare as it doesn't require cooking.

• It is refreshing, light, and healthy.

• It is best as a starter dish or a dish for lunch.

• Finally, I like it because I am addicted to fruits.
