Wild Walk: Autumn in the Rideau Forest, Eastern Ontario Canada
A few photos from my walk in the Rideau Forest along the Rideau River here in Eastern Ontario Canada.
The forest is mostly a mix of Sugar Maple trees, Birch, Cedar, Spruce, Balsam and Eastern White Pine … .
The air is aromatic with the fragrance of dried Pine needles and balsam fir.
I could walk here for days.
There is a stream that runs along the length of the trail and we go fishing here in the summer. There are bass, perch, pickerel and trout. These are perfect for pan fried fish dinner over a camp fire.
We have also tried panning for gold on this river but so far no luck. There are rumours that there was gold found here back in the 1800’s so we will keep trying.
We would like to try camping here but there are stories of Coyotes and Black bears in the area.
We also spend a lot of time kayaking on this river. It is usually very calm and lots of little islands and streams to explore. It’s a good idea to bring a map since it’s easy to get lost.
You will also need a compass in case the fog rolls in. Especially this time of the year.
The warm days and very cool evenings you will often get mist in the early morning.
One time we did get lost in the thick fog and had to wait for the mist to burn off before we could find our way back to shore. We learned our lesson.
It’s also a good idea to bring some bear spray and an air horn or something to make a very loud noise to keep the bears away.
Stay safe out there in the Wilderness

I see you already have a lot of gold on your trees. But if you find gold in the river...
by the way, by the look of it, there should be grayling in this river.
Thank you for participating, you are the first and so far the only one :)
There are few brave people who are ready to go out into the wild.

@visionaer3003 @suntr
I will try to post some of our Prospecting videos here on Steemit also. Lots of gold in the Rivers here …
Am I talking to a gold miner right now? :)
Я сейчас разговариваю с золотодобытчиком? :)
🎉 Congratulations, @offgridlife!
