Travelling to the Palace of King Harishchandra with my son.

Assalamu Alaikum. Travel-loving people, how are you? I hope you are well. Today I will talk to you about the trip I took to the palace of Raja Harishchandra, a few days ago with my son.

My son has been ill for several days. So I took him to the doctor. I came to know that there is an old palace right near the diagnostic center. So I decided to visit the palace after meeting the doctor.

The name of the place is Rajashan. However, it is currently known as Majidpur. The palace of Raja Harishchandra is located here. Which is currently known as Rajbari or Shahibagh to the locals. I am giving you a brief description of Raja Harishchandra.

It is believed that the foundation of this palace was laid in the seventh or eighth century. When this historical site was excavated in 1990, several gold coins from the 7th century and some bronze coins and weapons from the 9th-10th centuries were found here. Archaeologists say that the palace has been renovated four different times. They believe that the palace was used for a long time. King Harishchandra was a king of the Pala dynasty and the name of his kingdom was Sambhar. The current name, Savar, comes from the name Sambhar. This palace holds great importance from a historical perspective. Although there is nothing much there now.

Anyway, after meeting the doctor, we got into a rickshaw. The place was nearby. Just about 600 meters from the Savar bus stand. I told the rickshaw driver about the palace. But he did not recognize it. Luckily, I had already found out the different name of the place from Google Maps. Then I said I would go to Shahibagh, the king's house. Then he took us there.

I thought there would be many people there. Because it is a historical place and a quiet place in the middle of a crowded locality. But I was shocked when I arrived. There were no people there. There were only two people there except us. Even then, they were local boys and they were chatting there. This disappointed me a lot.

The architectural style of the palace is not very clear. It is a very old structure and has not been properly preserved. It is not very large in size either. It may have once been located over a large area, but now people live in all the places except the main building. But this is my own opinion. Seeing what the Archaeological Department has preserved, it was very difficult to believe that it was once the king's house.

There was a clear lack of informing people about the identity of the place. No steps have been taken to inform people about such an ancient structure. I was very shocked to see this. There is not much publicity about such a historical place. As a result, not many people go there.

However, as a history lover, I enjoyed this trip quite a lot. Although I was disappointed in some cases. But I enjoyed it a lot. I hope my child will also enjoy visiting such historical places when he grows up. Thank you all.
