Samples of some spare parts produced in the Production Machine Shop |
In this Production Machine Shop, spare parts of locomotives, carriages, and wagons are produced and repaired. To complete the production and repair work, there are various types of machines available here. These machines are used for turning, drilling, facing, boring, parting, grinding, milling, thread cutting and more.

On one of the boards inside the shop, I saw samples of 129 spare parts beautifully arranged. Honestly, it looked amazing to see so many samples at once.

The most common machine here is the lathe. When I was visiting, I noticed many lathes, that’s why I was confused to add captions to some of my pictures because they all looked quite similar. What surprised me the most was that some of these machines are from the British colonial period and some are from before our country’s independence. I never expected to see machines that old still in use.

This shop has a total manpower allocation of 138 people, but right now only 28 are working here. Even with fewer staff, I was impressed to see how efficiently they manage everything.

The installation period of this lathe machine is 1948 |

Looking at the machines and the samples of spare parts, I realized how important this shop is for our railway system. Without these spare parts, locomotives, carriages, and wagons would remain broken and our train journeys might have come to a stop.

For me, this shop felt like the lifeline of the railway. The skilled local workers who operate these machines are doing something truly special for our country. I honestly recommend everyone to visit this workshop if you ever get the chance, it’s not just a shop, it’s history, engineering, and national pride all together.

There are still some sections of this workshop that I haven’t had the chance to visit yet. If one day I could explore every corner of this place and share all the detailed information with you, I would be truly delighted. This workshop is not just a workplace but also a living history of our railway system, where old and new machines together play a vital role in keeping our trains running.
I am inviting @mohammadfaisal, @rauja apu, @vivigibelis to take part in the contest.

Dude, I enjoyed reading your review of this metal industry. There are some highly artistic photos, such as the cover and the one with the stacked metal pellets.
