Sichuan's Forgotten Ancient Town

in CCS6 days ago

Dingyuan Ancient Town, a place perhaps unfamiliar to many. Zhongxin Town, historically known as Dingyuan Ancient Town, once served as the central hub of Wusheng County. However, the county seat was subsequently relocated to the present-day Yankou area, and Dingyuan gradually receded from public consciousness.
The ancient architectural complex is situated in Zhongxin Town, the former heart of Wusheng County. The complex comprises structures such as the Longevity Palace, Wenchang Palace, City God Temple, Confucian Temple, Martial Temple, and Mirror-Heart Pavilion. Historically, it boasted "nine streets and eighteen lanes, nine palaces and eighteen temples," allowing one to envision the opulence and cultural richness of Dingyuan Ancient Town in its heyday.
The Longevity Palace is located in Zhongxin Town. Its side door remains exceptionally well-preserved, with the inscription "Longevity Palace" discernible on the bricks. The three characters "Longevity Palace" above the main entrance have eroded due to the passage of time. Partial remnants of the calligraphy on the couplets flanking the main entrance can be seen, conveying a profound sense of history and the passage of years.
