Lyrics

I Pack My Bags
I’m Leaving Town
I Bought One Way Ticket
I Ain’t Coming Back
It’s Goodbye Friends And Goodbye Folks
I’m Heading For The City
And That’s My Home
Hmm Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo

And Goodbye Mama
Please Dont Cry
See I Can’t Stay
Dont Ask Me Why
I Gat No Money
Just Hopes And Dreams
I’m Gonna Find My Destiny
I Heard About Life
Life In The City
So That’s Where All The Dreams Come True

I’m Gonna Work Hard In The City
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

I’m Gonna Be A Famous
Super Star
I’m Gonna Drive A Big whole Fancy Car
And Fly My Own Plane
All Across This World
And When The Time Is Right, I’ll Find Myself A Girl

I Heard About Life
Life In The City
So That’s Where all Dream Come True
I’m Gonna Work Hard In The City
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

Hmm Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo

I Heard About Life, In The City
Thats Where all Dreams Come True
I’m Gonna Work Hard In The City
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

I Heard About Life In The City
Thats Where all My Dreams will Come True
I’m Gonna Work Hard
And When I Get There
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

I Heard About Life In The City
Thats Where all My Dreams will Come True
I’m Gonna Work Hard
And When I Get There
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

I Heard About Life In The City
Thats Where all My Dreams will Come True
I’m Gonna Work Hard
And When I Get There
So Wish Me Well
Wish Me Well

Reflection

Timi Dakolo is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is known for his great lyrics and powerful musical skills.

Wish Me Well describes the struggles of a young man who intends to pursue his dreams in the city, where he hopes his dreams would come true.

Armed with the axe of determination and ambition, the young man believes that, through hard work and dedication, he will accomplish all his dreams: buy fancy cars, travel round the world in a private jet, marry a good girl, etc.

Once again, Timi Dakolo tells the story of young Nigerians who live their rural communities to big cities like Lagos and Abuja to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

This is the classic story of the young man who sets out from home to seek his fortune.

It reminds me of stories we read way back in elementary school, of a boy packing a few belongings and setting out. At that time, I could only imagine (barely) that I might do the same. Eventually, I did.

I love your phrase "the axe of determination and ambition." With a tool like that, most obstacles will be cut down / overcome.

Your experience is a great summary of the story and the song. Now I can read the notes from under the Tatami Mats because a young man dared to leave his comfort zone to the land of the rising sun. I believed you also found your fortune there.

I think you will like the song. Here is a link to it. Thanks for your wonderful comments.
