RE: Steemitcentral Lyrics Challenge Day 23/60 - "I Believe in You" by Don Williams
Excellent. And typical of country musicians (and rock musicians and jazz musicians and blues musicians, etc), he does not care much for societal norms.
Interesting note #1 – I just finished composing a post about a song called ... "I Believe." It'll be posted in about 5 days.
Interesting note #2 – The third verse of the song begins with the line "But I believe in love." Coincidentally, the third verse of "Into My Arms," one of my favorite Nick Cave songs, begins with the exact same sentence.
Check it out here, 2 the 3-minute mark.
Wow. These are breathtaking coincidences. I will be waiting patiently to see the I Believe song. I trust it will be a great song.
Having listened to the lyrics of Nick Cave's into my hands, I can, at the very least, only say that I am thrilled by his poetic skills. He takes an atheistic view that he doesn't believe in an interventionist God yet he believes in love. Somehow, God is love. And so he arguably believes in God. Nevertheless, I find the message in the song quite thrilling - God manifests in love.
I will like to see you feature Nick Cave's Into My Hands. Thanks for your fantastic thoughts.
Yes, he is truly a wordsmith / poet / brilliant writer. He's been doing it for about 40 years now, and he works hard and diligently at it. I don't like all of his output, but it's all noteworthy, and much of it is brilliant, and I listen to it regularly.
He started out as a punk rocker, of sorts, but soon evolved beyond that. I intend to include "Into My Arms" in my future music series, which I plan (tentatively) to begin a few months from now.
I'm thoroughly enjoying making these daily lyrics posts. I'm actually learning more about these songs, many of which I first listened to so many years ago. I love doing a bit of research, love listening to the tracks with a wider perspective, and love composing these posts. And earning a few Steem is a nice bonus!
I hope to keep producing daily posts until #60. After that, I might need a break.
p.s. Here's a great "lecture" by Nick Cave. Hope you can find time to listen to it eventually.
I listened to this excellent lecture over and over again. It is a great lecture, indeed. He talks about how the God of the New Testament, as recorded in the gospels, is entirely different from the God of the Old Testament. I agree with the insights he shared. Great.
However, I think the lecture is incomplete because it ended abruptly. I wish I could get the full lecture. I always love to hear fresh views on religious matters.
Also, I am glad that you love making these posts and learn a lot from the process. It's the same way for me too. I have learnt a lot and continue to learn.
Thanks for sharing the video and the great music.
