RE: Charity Weekly - Week 4

in #charityweekly8 years ago

I think Steemit needs some sort of formal process to verify charities, as Tsu did. That may involve some paperwork, but people are more likely to donate if they have some indication that it is legitimate. I hope this is somewhere on the to-do list. Meanwhile charity accounts should at least be linked to from their official web sites. Smaller organisations may need a trusted party to validate them. Of course I trust you.

Totally agree and I will do a #discussion post about this - asking what can be done and what the community thinks - I heard some opinions from users that people tend to dislike charities - if it is just because of potential scammers a process can be implemented. However we will see - hope some thing will happen soon. Thanks for commenting @steevc - am running to Oktoberfest now.

I would hope that those benefitting from Steemit would be considering donating some of their profits to charity. Just a few votes from whales could do so much good. This would also be great publicity for Steemit.

Enjoy your beer. Oktoberfest in September? :)

That would be ideal - agreed in all point! Oktoberfest is in September every year simply as of the weather - more here (Source: Oktoberfest.de):

Why does the Oktoberfest start in September?

The original horse-race was an event that only took one day. Over the decades, as the horse-rave had disappeared, the Oktoberfest got longer and longer, until it lasted two weeks, as it does today. However, it is not uncommon in Bavaria for the weather to become quite cold in the middle of Oktober and there can even be snow. To avoid a snowy Oktoberfest, the decision was made to start the Oktoberfest earlier, usually some time around the beginning of the fourth week of September.

Thanks for your comments, we are embarrassed that we didn't see the post until now.

As @uwelang says, you can have a chat with us at Steemfest regarding the details of our Volunteer work, and perhaps help with ideas on how to present It on here that will help 'validate' it when we are in Nepal.

We are the organisation as such, and plan to blog with photos, what is needed, the receipts, and the items in use. We plan to use all the SBDs from this blogs on the work, and have already spent over £1000 of our own money on preparation.

Cheers
