Today or Tonight Is the Night That Everyone Is Waiting For

Everyone is excited. Many are planning to attend midnight mass. Some are cooking for the noche buena tonight. Some are experiencing snow in other parts of the world. For us here in the Philippines it is hot as of now. Maybe tonight it will cool down.

A few years back I would by firecrackers and other fireworks. Not much but to have noise and displays. They are dangerous I know so I make sure the one lighting it knows what he is doing.

Instead buying firecrackers because it is not allowed any more I will buy fruits and food for tonight. I was fun before, but after seeing all the accidents that happen and the fires, I stopped. Good thing they are not selling them as much as before so I don't get tempted. So we just watch the others who can afford to buy the big legal fireworks. You can see them in the sky.

Again as usual it will just be me and my mom with our helpers. We will have spaghetti and macaroni fruit salad with assorted bread and pastries and with hot dogs. Soft drinks, cheese and the ham I cooked.

After that, the fun part, I wear my Santa hat and start giving out gifts. Even if they are simple gifts and expected ones, we are happy. I always buy clothes because it is something they can use. I used to separate the shorts and T-shirts but this time I placed them together. I bought extra toys and lollipops for the kids.

What I will be waiting for is a video call with my daughter later. I will be happy but also sad because she is not here. Tears still fall when I think of her. I just miss her so much and now that she will be having a son soon I wish I could go and see them. I also bet there will be lot of people who will be waiting for video calls or phone calls from loved ones far away.

I guess everyone will be busy today and tomorrow. Soon it will be New Year and we become a year older.
