13 going on 30: OK entertainmentsteemCreated with Sketch.

The "kid in an adult body" seems to be a popular trope. In this present iteration, the results are mixed but still give interesting results.

Jenna is 13 and, like most kids her age, wants to fit in. She wants to be part of the mean girl clique, so she invites them over to her house. Of course, they play tricks on her; little do they know that she will be catapulted in the future when she's 30, pretty and successfull. But has her character matured?

When it comes to the core premise (kid transforming into an adult), I've seen better, like Shazam, mostly because it didn't take itself seriously. Here, while Jennifer Gardner is a good actress, the scenario doesn't let her shine much. Her mind is stuck in her 1987, 13-year-old self and it gets repetitive.

However, I liked how they played that she became head of the click and became a successful bitch, with all the resentment and backlash it may cause. Popularity doesn't mean good spirit...

IN short, this movie is perfect to pass time on a long flight. It didn't revolutionize anything, but it's still entertaining. And, of course, there is a male character who's devoided of a brain
