Mumbai rains
Since the past 2 days back home in Mumbai it's chaotic. It's been raining heavily and continuously since the past 2 days and many parts of the city have been flooded. I am keeping a track of it since my son is in Mumbai right now, so I am always worried about him. A lot of services have been disrupted because of the rains. Getting out on the roads is not advisable at all right now, because there is water clogging at many parts. Mumbai has many low line areas and these areas get flooded very fast. And with heavy rains, roads also get damaged.
I love and enjoy this season but when situation becomes like this then it is no more fun. It's better to be indoors only all the time. Today schools have declared holiday for students and majority of the offices have also advised work from home for the employees. At the time when I was in Mumbai and working, this would also turn out to be a fun time, because working from home was such a relief. Very few offices had that option, because then they had to provide laptops to their employees. But now work from home is a wide spread concept. In the last company I worked for, which was Accenture, they had this benefit as a convenience for the employees. So not only in rains but other wise also for any reason if one wants to work from home, they can.
2 months back when I was in Mumbai, it was raining then also and I enjoyed those days, I would go on a long drive and we would halt on the way to grab some local foods. It was so much fun. Sharing some photographs of the drive on one particular day.
I was wanting to drive up the hill, but after a point the road became extremely foggy and the visibility was very poor, so then me and hubby decided to play safe and take a U-turn. Adventure is good but one must also not be foolish and go against nature. It's better to be safe and sorry. As we climb up, the roads get narrow and it's a 2 way traffic, so there is high probability of accidents at such time.
As of now everyone is praying that it stops raining and gets settled down as there is too much havoc and destruction also happening. Yesterday I heard one society gate keeper died in an accident due to the rains. It's extremely tragic when such situations happen. May his soul RIP. Nature is nurturing and is most of the time enjoyable, but then there are these kind of times also when nature shows it's fierce side and reminds us that nothing is stronger then nature.

@nainaztengra, your post really captures the duality of Mumbai's monsoon – the joy of those scenic drives and the worry when the rains turn relentless. I can completely understand your concern for your son and everyone back home. The videos of your past drives are beautiful! It's a good reminder to appreciate the beauty when it's safe, but also to respect nature's power. It's also interesting how work-from-home policies have evolved.
The way you've woven together personal experience with the current situation makes this post so relatable. Sending positive vibes for the rains to ease up soon and for everyone's safety! 🙏💖 Have you considered sharing any resources or ways people can help those affected?
