When words sound
Hi steemit and this amazing community
I am happy to share my experience of words with you all
So let's see how it goes
There are days when words feel heavier than silence. You say something maybe casually, maybe carefully and it clings to the air long after it's left your lips. Other times, you read or hear something that lands in your chest like a soft knock or a lightning bolt. Words sound. They echo. Sometimes, they heal. Sometimes, they haunt.
I remember one particular evening after a long, messy day, I found myself sitting with a friend who just needed to talk. No filters. No expectations. Just raw honesty. I listened more than I spoke, but somewhere between her pauses, I said, “You don’t always have to be strong.” It wasn’t rehearsed. It just slipped out, and for a second, her whole face changed relief was what I saw written all over . She said that was the first time anyone had given her that permission. I didn’t even know she was waiting for it.
That moment taught me something: words don’t need to be loud to sound powerful. They just need to be true.
But not all words have been soft in my story. I’ve also said things I wish I could take back—snappy remarks, careless jokes, or just tired responses spoken in irritation. They didn’t seem like much at the time, but later, when I replayed them in my mind, they echoed with regret. It’s important to know that our voices, even in fleeting seconds, can shape someone else’s day or even their self-esteem.
Over time, I've collected a few phrases that stick with me like a compass in chaos. Here are three that have stayed with me:
“This too shall pass.” It sounds cliché until you’re knee-deep in something painful and need to believe there’s a future beyond it.
I remember when I was heartbroken and someone said this words to me I felt relieved“You are enough.” In a world that constantly tells us to be more, do more, and have more,
Where everyone feels they are the best making others feel not enough this sentence feels like a warm cup of tea making me feel I was doing my best“I see you.” Not just physically, but emotionally. It’s a quiet recognition of someone’s presence, effort, or pain. It can change everything.
Of all the words I’ve held close, there’s one phrase I often whisper to myself, especially when self-doubt creeps in: “Keep showing up.” Life doesn’t always ask for brilliance. Sometimes, it just asks us to show up, even if all we bring is our messy, unfinished selves. That phrase grounds me when I feel scattered. And I’ve started using it with friends too—whenever they feel stuck or lost. It’s not flashy, but it’s sincere. It carries hope in the simplest way.
Now, here's a strange but beautiful thought: Can silence make a sound? I believe it does. Silence isn’t empty; it’s full of meaning. It can speak volumes—sometimes louder than words. The silence after bad news, the pause before an apology, the quiet between two people who no longer know how to talk—those silences sound. They vibrate inside us. But silence can also be peaceful, like the kind that sits comfortably between two people who understand each other without saying a word.
On Steemit, words come alive in comments, posts, and replies. And let me tell you, there was a comment I once received that stayed with me. It wasn’t long or poetic. Just a simple line: “I needed this today.” That was it. But it landed softly and powerfully in my heart. It reminded me why I write. Not for applause, not for rewards, but for connection. To know that something I typed from a little corner of the world could reach someone else and matter—that’s the true magic of words online.
Of course, not all comments are kind, and a few sharp ones have left their sting. But I try not to carry those too long. Not all echoes deserve space in our minds.
So here we are, surrounded by sounds, spoken and unspoken. Words shape us. Silence holds us. And sometimes, the sound that moves us most isn’t loud at all it’s just timely, true, and from the heart.
What are the words that have sounded in your life lately? And how will you let your own voice sound in someone else’s world?
