My Day with Uncle and the Working Dog | Mi día con el tío y el perro de trabajo [Eng/Esp]

A while ago, I went to see my uncle at his house. I have to tell you, the man loves his dog so much.

Have you guys watched John Wick movie before. Remember what John Wick was willing to do to the bad guys because they killed his dog? I am pretty sure that's what my uncle would do.

He has a couple of dogs but his favorite is this black one I'm going to talk about today. He calls the dog hunter. The dog is a real hard worker and it proved itself that day.

My Uncle wanted to show me something new, and when I say new, it really was to me. I know there are police dogs and dogs that can work but I personally had not seen one as talented as my uncle's dog Hunter.

We went to the woods together in the morning, it was a Friday morning and my uncle usually walks the dog in the woods nearby.

The woods had quite a number of tall trees. A lot of felling goes on so there's woods broken down everywhere. The dog as you can see in the pictures is very well fed, so it is very strong and has a strong bite force. How do I know the dog's bite force? I gave it a stick, a very hard stick and it broke the thing like a tooth pick.

The dog is well trained and that's one thing that impresses me about those animals, they can undergo training to a point where they do things that people would do. Never underestimate the intellect of a dog.

My uncle pointed to one of the broken woods on the ground. The dog ran over and picked up a big stick with its mouth. It brought the stick back to us. Then my uncle pointed at a particularly direction and the dog moved the stick there. After a few seconds I begun to understand exactly what my uncle wa letting the dog do. The dog was literally doing clean up work in the woods. This surprised me. The fact that it knew exactly which wood to pick and which not to pick. Also, because some wood pieces are kind of stuck to the ground, it struggles with it but knows exactly how to get it into its mouth. It knows which direction to gather the woods too.

This dog is such a hard worker.

Dogs can do many jobs. This dog in particular likes carrying wood. Some dogs help people who can’t see. Have you seen that happening before? It's amazing. They use their good senses to guide the blind.

Other dogs help farmers with sheep or cows. They keep the animals safe. I don't remember which movie it was but I once saw a dog protect sheep from a dangerous wolf. It fought the wolf away but it had a lot of bruises because of that. What a hero.

The general work we see most dogs do in cities is police work. They find lost things or protect people. They sniff out drugs and can track where murderers hid a body.

I don't know if it's just my uncle's dog, but I see the dog wag its tail more where it's focused on working. Perhaps that's a sign it's paying attention.

We had a long walk in the woods. The dog found more sticks during that time. So I realized my uncle and his workers are not the only ones taking care of the woods, Hunter the hard working dog is doing its part too.

I even tried to help the dog pick up some woods but the dog started growling. My uncle shouted "steady" and he told me not to make a move. Apparently, the dog taught I was stealing the woods. It was not familiar with me so it really saw me as a stranger and a threat.

A dog's sense of danger and threats is insane. One little wrong move and you might end up with a bite. Some dogs sense danger, like an upcoming storm, some help people feel happy by staying close to them. Especially children and old folks.

There are ones who pull sleds in snow and you see a lot of those during winter or Christmas season. And there are dogs that find lost people in mountains.

Perhaps animals have more energy than we do. It did not get tired fast. My uncle just has to give the dog treats and kind words and you see it work harder than the average person.

If you own a dog and you want to train it to work, you need to care for it. I doubt a sick and weak dog would even bother to work. They need food, water and rest. Asking too much from them can make them sick. My uncle's dog gets breaks and when I say it's a hard worker I don't mean intense, abusive labor. After it carries a big stick, the dog lay down. It would be panting but still happy and ok. My uncle gave it water from a little bottle and I could tell it was thirsty because the little fella drank almost the entire bottle.

I learned a lot that day. Dogs are more than pet, they are helpers. It was actually worth visiting my uncle and going to the woods.

You could tell I was trying so hard to get a picture where the dog was steady. It was so difficult. The little guy was moving around so fast it was hard to take a steady picture.

Hace un tiempo, fui a visitar a mi tío a su casa. Tengo que decirles que ese hombre ama muchísimo a su perro.

¿Han visto la película John Wick? ¿Recuerdan lo que John Wick estaba dispuesto a hacerles a los malos porque mataron a su perro? Estoy bastante seguro de que eso es lo que haría mi tío. Tiene un par de perros, pero su favorito es el negro del que voy a hablarles hoy. Lo llama «cazador». El perro es muy trabajador y ese día lo demostró.

Mi tío quería enseñarme algo nuevo, y cuando digo nuevo, realmente lo era para mí. Sé que hay perros policía y perros que pueden trabajar, pero personalmente no había visto ninguno tan talentoso como el perro de mi tío, Hunter.

Fuimos juntos al bosque por la mañana, era viernes por la mañana y mi tío suele pasear al perro por el bosque cercano.

El bosque tenía bastantes árboles altos. Se talan muchos árboles, por lo que hay bosques talados por todas partes. El perro, como se puede ver en las fotos, está muy bien alimentado, por lo que es muy fuerte y tiene una gran fuerza de mordida. ¿Cómo sé la fuerza de mordida del perro? Le di un palo, un palo muy duro, y lo rompió como si fuera un palillo.

El perro está bien adiestrado y eso es algo que me impresiona de estos animales, que pueden ser adiestrados hasta el punto de hacer cosas que harían las personas. Nunca hay que subestimar la inteligencia de un perro.

Mi tío señaló uno de los troncos rotos que había en el suelo. El perro corrió hacia allí y cogió un palo grande con la boca. Nos trajo el palo. Entonces mi tío señaló una dirección concreta y el perro llevó el palo allí. Después de unos segundos, empecé a entender exactamente lo que mi tío estaba haciendo con el perro. El perro estaba literalmente limpiando el bosque. Esto me sorprendió. El hecho de que supiera exactamente qué madera recoger y cuál no. Además, como algunos trozos de madera están pegados al suelo, le cuesta trabajo, pero sabe exactamente cómo meterlos en la boca. También sabe en qué dirección recoger la madera.

Este perro es muy trabajador.

Los perros pueden hacer muchos trabajos. A este perro en particular le gusta llevar madera. Algunos perros ayudan a las personas que no pueden ver. ¿Has visto eso antes? Es increíble. Usan sus buenos sentidos para guiar a los ciegos.

Otros perros ayudan a los granjeros con las ovejas o las vacas. Mantienen a los animales a salvo. No recuerdo en qué película fue, pero una vez vi a un perro proteger a unas ovejas de un lobo peligroso. Luchó contra el lobo y lo ahuyentó, pero acabó con muchos moratones. ¡Qué héroe!

El trabajo más habitual que vemos hacer a los perros en las ciudades es el de policía. Encuentran objetos perdidos o protegen a las personas. Olfatean drogas y pueden rastrear dónde han escondido un cadáver los asesinos.

No sé si es solo el perro de mi tío, pero veo que el perro mueve más la cola cuando está concentrado en el trabajo. Quizás sea una señal de que está prestando atención.

Dimos un largo paseo por el bosque. El perro encontró más palos durante ese tiempo. Así que me di cuenta de que mi tío y sus trabajadores no son los únicos que cuidan del bosque, el perro trabajador Hunter también está haciendo su parte.

Incluso intenté ayudar al perro a recoger algunas ramas, pero empezó a gruñir. Mi tío gritó «tranquilo» y me dijo que no me moviera. Al parecer, el perro pensó que estaba robando las ramas. No me conocía, así que realmente me veía como un extraño y una amenaza.

El sentido del peligro y las amenazas de un perro es increíble. Un pequeño movimiento en falso y puedes acabar con un mordisco. Algunos perros perciben el peligro, como una tormenta que se avecina, otros ayudan a las personas a sentirse felices permaneciendo cerca de ellas. Especialmente los niños y los ancianos.

Hay algunos que tiran de trineos en la nieve y se ven muchos durante el invierno o la temporada navideña. Y hay perros que encuentran a personas perdidas en las montañas.

Quizás los animales tienen más energía que nosotros. No se cansaba rápidamente. Mi tío solo tiene que darle golosinas y palabras amables y se ve que trabaja más duro que la persona promedio.

Si tienes un perro y quieres entrenarlo para trabajar, debes cuidarlo. Dudo que un perro enfermo y débil se moleste en trabajar. Necesitan comida, agua y descanso. Pedirles demasiado puede enfermarlos. El perro de mi tío descansa y, cuando digo que es un gran trabajador, no me refiero a un trabajo intenso y abusivo. Después de llevar un palo grande, el perro se tumbó. Jadeaba, pero seguía feliz y bien. Mi tío le dio agua de una botella pequeña y me di cuenta de que tenía sed porque el pequeño se bebió casi toda la botella.

Aprendí mucho ese día. Los perros son más que mascotas, son ayudantes. Realmente valió la pena visitar a mi tío e ir al bosque.

Se notaba que me esforzaba mucho por sacar una foto en la que el perro estuviera quieto. Era muy difícil. El pequeño se movía tan rápido que era difícil sacar una foto nítida.
