What does independence mean to you?

To me independence means having the freedom to makes my own choices and lives life in my own way. It means i am not controlled by anyone and i can follows my dreams. Independence also means having a voice and the rights to speaks think and act freely. It is about living without fears and being strong enough to stand for myself. Independence is not just about a country it is also about peoples and how they live.

Do you consider yourself an independent person? Why?

Yes i considered myself an independent person in many ways. I take cares of my studies and manage my responsibilities without depending too much on others. I have learned how to makes decisions for myself and face the results whether goods or bad. Being a medical student i have to plan my time manage stress and work hard. These things make me feel independent. I also speak up when i don’t agree with something which shows emotional and mental independence.

What areas of your life do you feel you need to conquer with independence?

There are still some areas where I want to grow stronger. One of them is financial independence. Right now i stills depends on my parents for money. I wants to reach a stage where i can earn for myself and supports my family too. Another area is social independence—sometimes i feels i cares too much about what others think. I want to be free from this and live without fear of judgment. Also i wants to be more emotionally independent and not rely on others for happiness or peace.

Do you think emotional independence is possible? How do you define it?

Yes i believe emotional independence is possible. Emotional independence means being strong from the inside. It means we don’t depend on others to feel happy or confident. We love people but we don’t let their opinions or actions control our emotions. For example if someone says something negative I should not lose my confidence. Emotional independence also means understanding our feelings and staying calmed in hard times. It is not easy buts with time and self-love we can achieved it.

Is economic and social independence really present in your country?

In my country Pakistan economic and social independence is still a challenge especially for women. Many peoples still face financial struggles and joblessness. Women in rural areas are not givens the same chances as men. They depend on their husbands or fathers for money and are not allowed to work freely. Some families do supports girls’ education and jobs but its not common everywhere. Social independence is also limited because of cultural pressured. People are often judged for theirs choices which makes it hard to lives freely. I hoped this will change in the futures with better education and awareness.

Have you had to fight for your personal independence? Tell us your story.

Yes i had to fight for my personal independence in small but important ways. When i wanted to study cardiology some peoples told me that it is a tough field for girls. They said it would be better to choose an easier subject. But i didn’t listened to them. I believed in myself and choosed the path that made me happy. I had to face pressure and doubt but i stayed strong. I worked hard and proved that girls can do anything. I also had to fight to be allowed to travel alone for exams and classes. Now my family trusts me more and supports my independence.

What type of independence is more important: personal economic or emotional? Why?

All three types of independence are important but if i had to choose one i would say emotional independence is the most important. When we are emotionally strong we can handle any situation. We can stay calm in problems be patient with others and stay motivated even when we feel low. Emotional independence helps us in personal and economic life too. If we are emotionally weak we will not be able to stand up for ourselves or make good decisions. So i think emotional strength is the base of all other independence.

Independence is a beautiful gift that everyones should have. It gives us the power to lives freely and makes our own way in life. I am prouds of my journey so far and i will keep working hard to become fully independent in all areas of life. Thank you for reading my post.
