I would NEVER eat a praying mantis!! Even if it wasn't so cute.
Nor would I eat the big bullfrogs in my pond.
Tomato hornworms morph into those moths that fly like hummingbirds, but the wasps are welcome to them.
Sadly, a great big mean wasp now kills cicadas. Paralyzes 'em, hauls the cicada underground to a nest, and larvae feed off the live cicada.
Nature is so cruel.
Wow! Great close up of this fellow. I think I ate a chocolate cover grasshopper eons ago...only tasted the chocolate. Not much desire these days to eat the bugs, but only if dire times come upon us. Anyhow, great job!
Eating this bug would be illegal, if it makes you feel better. I think they're still a protected species.
