On the domestic side of things regarding comic books, I had quite a scare yesterday. My entire Spawn collection from issues 1-50 were in a brown paper bag this past week; my wife managed to pick it up while straightening the house and take it to the local library as a donation. No big deal, right?

Well actually it is; when she told me while we working our dog and our daughter, my face went white in shock, and I immediately left her and our 1.5 year old child to fend for themselves with our crazy dog. I B-lined it to the public library, found the bag still sitting on the donation shelf in the lobby, grabbed it and sprinted back to the car. Crisis averted; cops were not called, and I have now hidden my Spawn collection from her forever.

Yesterday’s drama aside, here we are for another week of speculation. It’s another light week for me, but here are a few thoughts I had while perusing this week’s releases.

We’re finally here; we got to visit Bruce Wayne’s “Bat-member” in issue #1, see where they covered up/censored Harley’s breasts in issue #2, and now watch this series come to a close. I'm sure it will be made into something on the DC streaming platform in the future, too.

Is that the Spectre I see? I hope so; I love the Spectre. It’s the type of character that makes me love DC comics (personally) so much. The esoteric nature of Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Doctor Fate, the Phantom Stranger, and the Spectre always make me appreciate the darker side of DC.

Cover B by Quintana looks like it might be going into “Slab City” too.

Speaking of Swamp Thing and “Slab City,” this one is gorgeous. I realize Swamp Thing was cancelled recently on the DC Unlimited platform, much to my chagrin, but I will never pass up a cover like this. We’ll also see the JLD as the newly anointed Lords of Chaos face off against Doctor Fate and his Lords of Order. All of this sounds Chaldean, and I love it.

A new one from IDW, I like the promotional statement on this one: “An all-ages fable inspired by the Wizard of Oz and Dante’s Inferno.” I’m hoping this one is like a new Bone, but that might be a bit lofty of an expectation. Still, I'm going to give it a shot.

Honestly, I haven’t read the first one yet; I’ve heard good things, however, online, and will pick this one up too.

I’m happy Mattina is finally off this series in respect to cover art; this McFarlane cover is a fantastic Spidey throw back, and I love it. More Spawn mythologies summaries expected leading to issue 300, as well.

Nobody in Control 2

The first issue of this series was interesting to say the least. A man sees a man run through his backyard, and decides to chase this running man deep into the woods. When he encounters this fleeing man, there is a weird exchange where the “running” man changes into weird animals, creatures, and other shapes…all the while having an odd dialogue. It was a curious issue; I too am curious where this story is going, so I’ll get issue #2.

Wow, I love this cover. I don’t like the price, however. Sales are going for $600 USD on eBay, yet you can get it at Midtown for $340 USD. Alas, I don’t have that kind of money, so I’ll only dream about my Litecoins have some type of value in the future….
