Title: The One Man We Should Never Forget – Leonardo da Vinci
If I tell you that there was a man who lived over 500 years ago and till today, he still blows my mind today, would you believe? That is exactly how I feel anytime I read about Leonardo da Vinci. He had many talents from a painter to an engineer, scientist, inventor, and everything related to it. This man was not just a regular human being at all.
So for this contest Which was to write about one person we admire for their achievement, his name immediately popped up in my mind. This man doesn't just inspire me, he reminds me that a human's brain can do more, if only we are serious.
What surprises you most about the person you have chosen?

What really amazes me is how one single person can have a knowledge of so many things like that. It felt like the man was living multiple lives at once.
- He painted The Last Supper and Mona Lisa (we still talk about them till today).
- He designed war machines for kings during his time.
- He studied the human body like a professional doctor, he even dissected corpses to understand it.
- He wrote backward, and he even used a mirror to read his own notes. Who reasons like that? If not for a genius.
- He was able to make drawings of flying machines even before aeroplanes were ever produced
He was the first to say that the earth is not flat and that a river erodes rock. In fact, he was a whole science laboratory.

I know that people will quickly say Mona Lisa or The Last Supper, and yes, those paintings are masterworks. But to me, his mindset and curiosity is the biggest achievement.
He didn't put himself inside the box. He was a painter that studied biology. A sculptor that designed a catapult. An engineer that drew the human skeleton.
His ability to blend art with science was the real magic. That is why we call him "Renaissance man" till today.

In April 1452, Leonardo was born in a small town called Vinci, in Italy, . He was born out of "wedlock". He was stigmatized because of this. Despite this, from a very young age, people began to notice that he was different. They said he observed birds, water, wind, and everything that nature had to offer.
So as the boy grew to 14 years old, he was sent to be an apprentice under a man known as Verrocchio, a famous artist. And from there, he started to do great things. Throughout his life, he moved from one city to another; Florence, Milan, Rome, France, always working, drawing, inventing and exploring life.
Even though many of his inventions were not built during his time, the sketches and notebooks he left behind have inspired generations of scientists and creators. Till today, people still study his works and wonder how one person was able to reason that way.

On TikTok: He would have different tutorials on how to sketch birds, design a glider, or dissect a frog for scientific drawing (with warning: "Don't try this at home").
On Twitter/X: He would post random midnight tweets like “The angle of light reveals the secrets of the soul.” Then followed by thread on geometry of shadows.
And then on YouTube: And then on YouTube, he would have millions of subscribers from his long-form videos like “Why the Human Body is a Machine” or “How to Draw like a Genius”.

Sometimes I wonder, what would have happened if Leonardo da Vinci was born today? With access to the internet, laptop, AI and all our modern equipment, I feel that he would build a spaceship that can go to Jupiter. He showed imagination and knowledge has no boundary.
As a student that loves art and engineering, I l look up to this man. He reminds me that it's not too late to explore different sides of yourself. Don't let society put you in one corner. Try everything. Learn everything. Create something. Who knows, maybe it's your own sketch that would be studied a few years from now.

Si les digo que hubo un hombre que vivió hace más de 500 años y que, a día de hoy, sigue impresionándome, ¿lo creerían? Así es exactamente como me siento cada vez que leo sobre Leonardo da Vinci. Tenía muchos talentos, desde pintor hasta ingeniero, científico, inventor y todo lo relacionado. Este hombre no era un ser humano común y corriente.
Así que para este concurso, que consistía en escribir sobre una persona a la que admiramos por sus logros, su nombre me vino inmediatamente a la mente. Este hombre no solo me inspira, sino que me recuerda que el cerebro humano puede hacer más, si nos tomamos en serio.

Lo que realmente me asombra es cómo una sola persona puede tener un conocimiento de tantas cosas. Parecía como si el hombre viviera varias vidas a la vez.
- Pintó La Última Cena y la Mona Lisa (todavía hablamos de ellas).
- Diseñó máquinas de guerra para los reyes de su época.
- Estudió el cuerpo humano como un médico profesional; incluso diseccionó cadáveres para comprenderlo.
- Escribía al revés, e incluso usaba un espejo para leer sus propias notas. ¿Quién razona así? Si no es un genio. * Pudo dibujar máquinas voladoras incluso antes de que se fabricaran los aviones.
Fue el primero en afirmar que la Tierra no es plana y que un río erosiona las rocas. De hecho, era todo un laboratorio científico.

Sé que la gente rápidamente dirá Mona Lisa o La Última Cena, y sí, esas pinturas son obras maestras. Pero para mí, su mentalidad y curiosidad son el mayor logro.
No se encerró en sí mismo. Era un pintor que estudió biología. Un escultor que diseñó una catapulta. Un ingeniero que dibujó el esqueleto humano.
Su capacidad para fusionar el arte con la ciencia fue la verdadera magia. Por eso lo llamamos "hombre del Renacimiento" hasta el día de hoy.
