Name three types of filling that you love in your arepa?

The first filling i love in my arepa is cheese. Cheese makes the arepa soft creamy and stretchy. When the cheese melts inside the hot arepa it tastes amazing. This is the filling I enjoy the most because it is simple but very satisfying.

The second filling that i like is shredded chicken with vegetables. I prepared the chickens by boiling it and then shreddings it into smaller pieces. I mixed it withs onions carrots and sometimes a littles mayonnaises. This filling makes the arepa healthy rich in proteins and very tasty.

The third filling that i enjoy is egg with avocado. I usually boil the egg cut it into pieces and mix it with avocado slices. The egg gives strength and the avocado makes the filling creamy. It is lights healthy and fulls of energy.

These three fillings—cheese chicken with vegetables and eggs with avocado—are my favorites because they are easy to prepared delicious and give me energy for the wholes day.

At what time of day do you usually eat arepas the most?

Arepas can be eaten at breakfast lunch or dinner but i mostly eat them at breakfast. In the morning when i wake up a warm arepa with cheese or chicken gives me the perfect start to the day. It fills my stomach but does not feel too heavy. Sometimes i also enjoy arepas for lunch especially when i am busy and want something quick but filling. For dinner i eat arepas only if i do not want a big meal. But truly breakfast is the best time for me to eat them. Eating an arepa in the morning makes me feel fresh happy and ready to face my daily work.

What are the three typical accompaniments to your arepas?

Arepas are more enjoyable when we eat them with accompaniments. My three favorite accompaniments are:

Coffee – A hot cup of coffee with a cheese arepa is the perfect match. The taste of strong coffee and soft arepa balances well.

Fresh juice – Orange juices or mango juice adds sweetness and freshness. It makes the meals more refreshing.

Custard – This may sound unusual but custard gives a sweet ending after a salty arepa. It feels like a complete meal when i have custard with it.

These three—coffee juice and custard—are typical accompaniments that i enjoy the most with arepas.

You can make an arepa and fill it with whatever you want. Show us step by step so you know if the water goes first or the flour.

Now i will explain step by step how to make an arepa in a simple way. Many people get confused about whether to put flour first or water first. Let me show you the correct method:

Gather ingredients. You need pre-cooked corn flour water salt and a little oil. Optional: butter for extra softness.

Add water first. Take a bowl and pour warm water into it. Warm water makes the dough soft.

Add salt. Put a pinch of salt into the water and stir well until it dissolves.

Add flour slowly. Do not add all the flour at once. Add it little by little while mixing with your hand.

Mix well. Use your hands to make a smooth dough. It should not be too dry or sticky. If it is dry add more water; if sticky add more flour.

Rest the dough. Lets the dough rest for 5 minutes. This makes it soft and easiers to shapes.

Shape the arepas. Take small balls of dough and press them flat with your palms. Make them round and about one centimeter thick.

Cook them. Heat a pan and spread a little oil. Place the arepas on the pan and cook on medium heat. Flip them so both sides become golden brown.

Cut and fill. Once cooked cut the arepa open and fill it with cheese chicken eggs avocado or anything you like. Serve hot with coffee or juice.

This is the easiest way to make arepas and the most important point is that water goes first then the flour.
