RE: Things I Wouldn’t Miss After a Zombie Apocalypse

Are we the only culture so insecure that we have to chant our name to remind ourselves of how wonderful we are? I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that drunks in Switzerland rarely start chanting “Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft! Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft! Schweizerische Eidgenossenschaft!”

LOL

Unfortunately, you're not. I think the easier the name of the country is to pronounce, the more it will be loudly chanted by shitfaced people. When one of our national ice hockey team wins something, the streets will be filled with loud drunks taking a bath in fountains chanting "Suomi!". "USA" is hard to mispronounce even after downing a whole keg, too. But that "Sweizeri... something" is probably very good at keeping the nationalistic fervor of inebriated masses at bay.

Sort:

Australia says AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OY OY OY but usually only at international sporting events.
