Crocheting a Junimo Coaster - 10 August 2025

A present for a very keen Stardew Valley player !
I’ve seen many pictures, pixel pictures and even some stuffed versions of this character called Junimo (a type of forest spirit in a video game). When a friend’s birthday was approaching I was commissioned to make this version. It’s based on an Etsy pattern that you can get here for £3.73 or a bit less than 40 Steem.
I didn’t follow all of the pattern instructions because I only looked at it for inspiration as it simplified the shape and made it into a coaster.

The crocheted circle grew fast and I didn't encounter any issues at all as I've made a few circles in the past, but just in case you're wondering how I made it, here's a very clear tutorial on You Tube :
I was able to finish that section very quickly indeed :

I was pleased my green yarn was also matched by that green crochet hook.
The yarn kept on breaking so I reckon it was old yarn from a charity shop rather than new yarn.

Not much yarn left after completing the circle.
Judging by the feel of it (slightly rough) I reckon the green yarn’s pure wool. As it was 4 ply I had to crochet two strands of it held together to be able to use my 4mm crochet hook.
When I finished the circle I made sure to hide all the yarn ends in the back of the work with a craft needle.

I added the details with black yarn and a bit of light pink too. This project had a lot of bits to sew and finish neatly so the delay was mainly finishing off properly.
If you’re interested in this video game, you can learn a bit about it here. I also found a review of the game on You Tube if you’d like to have a look :
