RE: What kind of stereotypes do people have about My country?
Thank you for this post @nainaztengra.
I learned a lot from you about what India is and isn't. Can I add to your list of stereotypes? I hope you don't mind. Maybe you can clear those up, too... I don't know if they are true or not. I don't know anything about India.
Stereotype 1
Indians are really good at computer and coding. They can hack anything!
Stereotype 2
Indian woman surgically put on a red dot on their forehead
(Up until about a few months ago, this is what I knew. Then one day my daughter asked me about it. I found out it was just sticker!!! We watched a youtube video and learned that there are different kinds of stickers, not just the circle one.)
stereotype 3
Indians eat na'an bread and chicken masala or curry every day.
stereotype 4
Old woman wash their clothes in the river.
Ohh my god, that's crazy. Seriously do you think in Mumbai city we go to the river side to wash clothes. Probably we will have to go to the Arabian Sea and that too getting all over the boulders....hehehe
Yes we are just fixed up sometimes based on certain readings and movies that sadly out across only something that is too spicy to sell to the audience :-)
Funny!~ lol.
There are crazy stereotypes about America too (where I'm from). I have been living in South Korea for the last 20 years and some of the most ridiculous stereotypes that koreans have about Americans are:
I agree that the movies we watch shape our minds and our children's minds, too~
The content could be toxic. I wish there were a way to stop all these stereotypes.
