Gitcoin is a Web3 developed in 2017 by Kevin Owocki in favor of the open-source developers and open-source projects. It is an open community-directed, publicly held fund built on top of Ethereum, to sponsor open source software, DeFi, and climate ventures. It has been distinguished by its notable feature, Quadratic Funding which fosters engagement of the community in the process by providing a greater amount of money to a fund used in the projects that attract more participants and enables lesser numbers of contributors to become powerful.
